No, I just changed the GPU Acceleration for SVP from my Intel HD4600 to my AMD HD7970, and watched the next episode and it did not happen at all. No jump ups or anything, no delayed frames or dropped frames.

Problem is when I go back to watching 720p videos, and they need to be up-scaled to 1080p using Madvr, I need to use the HD4600 for GPU Acceleration with SVP, because Madvr uses 70% to 80% of my GPU, and I don't want to put my settings down.

It would be a good idea if you can add an option for the profiles, so that with 720p I can say use my HD4600. And for 1080p use my HD7970 (because there isn't any upscaling being done by Madvr when 1080p to 1080p).

Thanks for the reply.

Hi Everyone,

I have an issue while watching videos sometimes, usually with 1080p content, where the video would speed up really fast and then slow down (or slow down for two seconds, and then speed back up to where it should be). The audio doesn't cut or slow down, the audio keeps going, but the video slows down and then it tries to catch up with the audio, so it speeds up really fast. It happens once every 10 minutes, sometimes once every 20 minutes.

It's fine most of the time, but sometimes it happens during suspenseful situations and ruins it, or during a fight and it just looks completely weird. So I was hoping there's a solution to it.

See the image below:

http://i.imgur.com/f4CNTJB.png

Hardware:

4790K @ 4.7Ghz
Intel HD4600 for GPU acceleration with SVP
AMD HD7970 OC for Madvr up-scaling.

Sorry if this question was asked and answered before, just point me to the right place.

By the way, in the image, I've paused the video and taken the picture, that's why it says 0.85 for SVP Index. Otherwise it's very stable, you can see in the graph.

Regards, Blackfyre.
Thanks.

That doesn't make sense that if you install the 32Bit (x86), it cannot install the 64Bit player.

The only other thing I can think of is perhaps you've installed the x64Bit in the past, and somehow it is by default in Windows the one that runs when you open any media files. Meaning you have MPCx64 as the default media player for all media content. You need to make the 32Bit version the default media player.

Anyway, what are your specs? Your CPU, RAM, and Videocard?

As for the "Soap Opera" effect, that's normal at first to feel that way sometimes. I challenge you to watch movies/series at 60FPS for a consistent amount of time (maybe for two weeks) then go back to watching without SVP. Once you get used to 60FPS+ it's almost impossible to watch anything at 24/25/30 FPS anymore.

Hi Everyone,

On behalf of everyone who is enjoying the latest iteration of the software and not having any problems with it. I would like to thank the developers for their time and effort in making SVP 4 Pro possible, as well as all the Beta Testers for having to go through all the unnecessary issues so we don't get to see them tongue (lucky you - cough).

The performance differences are astonishing once all the "PRO" options are edited (I am impressed) in comparison with SVP 3.1.7.

I do miss the Classic UI, the way it used to look. As a request, I would love it if you guys can add an option when right-clicking on SVP Manager to enable Classic Expert UI from the 3.1 days. Whenever you're free.

Great job.

Regards, Blackfyre.

Hi, and welcome.

Sorry, but that doesn't make sense...

Here's the download link to the official MPC page:

https://mpc-hc.org/downloads/

Just in case you're getting it from somewhere else, make sure you always get it from the official site.

Anyway if the problem persists, try out MPDN:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=171120

Assuming SVP and all its components are installed correctly, follow the instructions below:

Scroll down the first post and look for these three files; install them in the following order:

1. "zachsaw.com Software Certificate"
2. "Media Player .NET (MPDN) Installer - x86 Edition"
3. "MPDN Extensions Installer"

Once you're done with that, run MPDN... And EDIT the following settings;

Click on View, then open Options.

On the left panel, click on Video which is under DirectShow...

Now under Available Filters* scroll down until you see "ffdshow raw video filter", use the arrow keys between the panels, to move "ffdshow raw video filter" to the right side so it is under Selected Filters.

Click APPLY, then Click OK.

While SVP is running in the background, now open a video of your choice with MPDN.

If everything is working fine then we can figure out why your MPC is not working, otherwise if MPDN doesn't work too, then I'm not sure what is going on unless you provide further details.

I'm impressed.

I am assuming you're talking based on comparisons made between SVP 4 Pro vs SVP 3.1.7 - ?

Not SVP 4 Pro vs Free (because they should be performing the same as long as they're both the same build number).

I have been very impressed with SVP 4 Free thus far anyway. Looking forward to the PRO, I know they have their hands full right now, so I'll just wait my turn.

Hi,

I went from a 3570K @ 4.2Ghz to a 4790K @ 4.7Ghz and it made a difference. A big difference. Probably not much at all if you're running the default settings though.

But it allowed me to fine tune my settings for SVP better (settings which are now probably only in the purchased version of SVP 4, which I'm waiting for eagerly).

Anyway, the first question really is... what do you use your system for? What are your other specs?

Hi Devs,

Sorry to bother you guys, but I would like to fix the link under the credits of SVP, under my name. I had my Twitter profile linked to my name, and I have since changed my Twitter username, thus making the old link I handed to you guys useless.

I would like to give a new link, and if that can be added with the next update, or the next major update, that would be great.

Please message me or reply to me here if you wish and I will send you the new link that I wish to be added under my name.

Thank you,
Regards, Blackfyre.

Thanks for the quick answer, unfortunately, nothing shows up in the search. So perhaps I don't have this LAV Video Decorder installed at all. Any idea where to get it? I did some Google searches but didn't find any downloads that match that name "Lav Video Decoder" ... I take it this is not a part of the whole SVP installation package?

Of course I have an idea of where to find it tongue

Here's a link to the thread:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156191

That way you can keep it updated too, updates don't come out too often though; once a month if necessary, otherwise it's once every few months smile

Scroll down in the post and find where it says downloads:

Then you want to look for the Installer (both 32Bit & 64Bit). Use the installer, don't use the zips. Once you've installed the whole shebang, then follow the earlier instructions.

Having the same problem here.

One question:"Lets start from beginning. Open LAV Video Decoder properties and check these options."

How do I open LAV Video Decorder?

Hold the Start key and press "S"... That will open the search function. Then type "LAV Video Configuration", while you're typing it, it should show up as a suggestion, click on it.

It's not out yet (only the free version is out), and I think they'll email everyone the details on the emails they provided when donating.

Thanks guys. I've studied this, and tested many options in the bios... the fact is when my cpu reaches 40.something ºC (and I have a water cooler) the frequency falls automatically... now I disabled turbo and overclocking, and I have lowered the voltage 0.5V... the results are: when my cpu is at 80% usage it does not reach 35°C.

What CPU do you have? What kind of an 8-Core CPU throttles at 40 something degrees celsius? That's very strange...

Not true; SVP 4 Free will always try to match what your screen refresh rate for videos that have a source framerate lower than 48fps. All you need to do is run your display at 70Hz and SVP will automatically interpolate at 70fps.

Yeah I made the assumption that he doesn't have a 70Hz refresh rate monitor... He has a higher refresh rate monitor running at 120Hz or 144Hz but he can't achieve that FPS and wants to lock it to 70FPS (for whatever reason).

Otherwise his question wouldn't even make sense to begin with, if he had a 70Hz monitor, SVP should be running @ 70 FPS anyway.

What SVP version are you running?

If you're running SVP 4, you have to wait until the full version is out.

If you're using 3.1.7 then you can do it. Right click, make sure it's Interface Type is in Expert mode. Then right click again, go to Screen Selection, click Force, then select “Specify Custom Screen Refresh
Rate
” and write 70.

Chainik wrote:

Brilliant smile That's great news.

Which SVP Version are you using? With the full version of SVP 4 you'll be able to force refresh-rate. You could also do it with the older SVP which remains free.

Also I see you're up-scaling to 4K from the above. If you're up-scaling using Madvr, you could go to Madvr settings, expand 'rendering' menu on the left, go to 'smooth motion', tick enable 'smooth motion frame rate conversion' and choose 'always'... This usually eliminates whatever jitter (micro-stuttering) left over from the missing frames that fill the monitor refresh-rate without forcing SVP's FPS.

What Chainik is telling you is that your CPU is throttling. The speed is decreasing and increasing, it is not consistently running @ 4.0Ghz. It's dipping and coming back up (that's called throttling) and it usually occurs when the CPU overheats, reduces its clock and voltage, cools down, then goes back up. It's not good for your CPU.

If it's not over-heating, then something else is causing the throttling, try to change your Windows POWER Settings to "Performance MODE" instead of "balanced" or "power-saving" (only do this if you're 100% certain that your CPU is not over-heating).

Use a temperature monitoring program like this one first:

http://openhardwaremonitor.org/

Run it... Run whatever video you were running above for two to three minutes with SVP obviously... Go back to Open Hardware Monitor and see your Maximum Temperatures for all your cores.

Is your GPU or CPU overclocked? And if yes, have you tested them both for stability yet?

Right click on SVP tray icon at the bottom-right corner of your start menu (in that region)... And you will see certain options that you can enable or disable.

Outer Lighting is there if that's what you're referring to...

Have you encountered any 1080p files (Im using 1080p monitor) that your iGPU couldn't handle? Pretty much all 1080p files my iGPU is just sufficient, and getting 1.0 SVP. But for one particular movie, SVP index drops to about 0.8-0.9 and is fixed when i change my gpu acceleration back to me 660ti.

No, I haven't encountered that issue yet. What movie is it?

I'm going to guess that you have to physically remove the discrete GPU in order to install the Intel drivers, but once they're installed you can plug the discrete GPU back in.

No, I've personally never needed to do that... Just a matter of installing the right drivers.

SatisfyingCrunch wrote:

Running windows 10 x64. cheers!

So just to show the performance difference; here is a graph depicting how my GPU and iGPU are being used depending on the resolution of the video I am watching (each video was viewed for approximately two minutes)...

http://i.imgur.com/PQWlWe3.png

Notice how the iGPU usage increases as the quality of the video becomes better (positive correlation). It increases to around 40% when watching 1080p content... This allows me to use Madvr settings that otherwise would not be possible, without dropped/delayed frames, had I been using the GPU alone (especially when up-scaling 720p content to 1080p).

Anyway; the latest driver from Intel for the HD4600 is below...

Download the .exe, install it, restart the computer as prompted after it finishes, then run SVP 4.0 Free Edition, Right-Click, Application Settings, GPU Acceleration, and select HD 4600...

Just curious did you just install intel hd graphics drivers to enable the acceleration using it for SVP? Got an i5-4690k here, tried installing intel hd graphic drivers but the intel hd graphics option just wont appear under the gpu acceleration list. Neither does the intel control panel hmm

I believe Intel control panel doesn't work when you have a dedicated GPU, but you can still use the iGPU (HD4600) if you install the correct drivers.

I've been using it this way for a while now, HD4600 is more than enough (video acceleration wise) for SVP @ 60FPS. It used it between 15% to 25% while watching videos. Which gives me more freedom (space) to do my settings for Madvr.

I'm not on the computer right now, I'm in bed. I'll help you out tomorrow, let me know what operating system you're running.
