Blackfyre - please tell us which settings in MadVR is most important to you?

Sorry guys just saw this, was asking madshi a question over @ Doom9 and thought I'd put the settings in that post anyway for anyone interested:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p … ost1742926

PS: As noted above though if you're just watching 1080p content with a 1080p monitor (especially if it's 23" than I guess madvr wouldn't be as important to you, if at all)... You will notice a different with 720p or anything below that though when upscaling to 1080p.

Madvr is definitely worth it.

I have a 4790K running @ 4.7Ghz & an AMD HD 7970 (same as the R9 280x).

The CPU is more than enough even @ 4.0Ghz to run SVP @ 60FPS... But the HD4600 is not enough for Madvr in my opinion.

I use the HD4600 for GPU Acceleration with SVP... and I use the HD7970 for my Madvr Settings.

Madvr for me is massive... It's as significant as SVP, if not more.

Both go hand in hand for me. Both are a must. If not Madvr+MPC, than MPDN (as the alternative).

I might be wrong though, you might be able to use Madvr with the HD4600 (for some basic settings), but with the settings I use, I know the HD4600 is not enough.

I got this error installing the free-version today.

Clicked retry a few times. Then decided to click ignore. Everything is working fine though, but I thought I should let you guys know, in case it needs to be fixed prior to the release of the full version.

You shouldn't be having any ghosting... What TV/Monitor do you use? What videocard and CPU do you use? What media player do you use? can you take a screenshot when the ghosting happens? do you mean artifacts?

Tried playing with the Artifact Masking and the problem is quite fixed, however you can still see a little flick. Is it possible to fix it in a 100%?

Yes, turn SVP off lol

There will always be a little bit of artifacts. I wish there was a way to completely remove them and have everything running smoothly, but nothing is ever perfect.

Maybe we will have better masking when SVP 4 is released next month, but we'll have to wait and see.

Which version of SVP are you running? I believe (but not 100% sure) that artifact masking will fix this (however, smoothness will decrease).

Have you tried using MPDN instead of MPC? To see if you can recreate the issue.

On the contrary... For me SVP 4 Technical Preview has performed better, with less CPU usage, and with so many less artifacts, I am amazed by it (I do not watch ANIME though, so I'm not sure if that is experiencing more artifacts).

The options will unlock with the public release of SVP 4 this month, and then later when the FULL Version is released it will have all the expert options that you need. So we're looking forward to it.

The slider for dummies is a brilliant idea. I can finally recommend this app to my friends when the full version comes out without me having to drive over to their place and set it up for them tongue

Hi Devs & Everyone:

I was not aware that SVP 4 Technical Preview was made public since 08/08/2015 for everyone (I was under the impression that only co-authors had access). I have to say I am extremely impressed with its performance and stability even at such an early stage and with minimal settings to play around with.

Brilliant work guys. Really looking forward to future updates + the full version later in the year.

My Specs:

CPU: 4790K @ 4.7Ghz
GPU: HD 7970 OC
RAM: 2133Mhz @ 11-12-12-34-CR2

For anyone else who was also in a similar situation and was not aware that it was publicly available, and has been for over a month, I have included the link below:

Scroll-Down to the Installation Section and click on "SVP 4 Technical Preview" - Follow the instructions (install it in a new folder and do not run it simultaneously with any other versions of SVP).

Okay, then sticking with 3.1.7, until final 4.0 hits.

I saw this thread and got excited. Checked my email, checked the download page, checked google... Then came back here and saw that it's not out yet. Lol I guess for those of us who paid, we'll get notified via email anyway when it comes out.

Xenonite, thanks for the enlightenment. I believe I knew and understood most of what you said already after having read and snooped around the forums here and doom9 for a while.

I'm not going to say I understand all the background work that SVP does, because I don't. But what I was telling the OP wasn't a negative statement about SVP (sorry if anyone misunderstood it that way), basically what I was trying to say from the start was that "don't expect that just because you are going to buy the 6700K you can "max-out" all the settings".

I didn't want to go into the detail of what every setting does or how it works differently for different types of media and the such; but I guess I should have written something along the lines of "don't expect to max out all the settings for SVP because that certainly isn't what you should be aiming to do; you're going to need different settings for different types of media and different resolutions. You're going to need to do things differently if you upscale or downscale. And lastly different people will like things differently; some use artifact-masking but lose a bit of fluidity and that's understandable for them (because they prefer it that way), others however hate anything that ruins perfect fluidity, so they prefer to see artifacts... At the end of the day, BUY the CPU that is within your budget, and work your settings around your hardware". The great thing with SVP is that it makes you always want "something better", but for now there's nothing that is "perfect" when it comes to motion-interpolation, and that is why I recommend you just get what is within your budget.

PS: can't wait for SVP 4

Thanks to all the developers and beta testers for all their hard work.

Hmm... I was going to suggest that it could be an upscaling or downscaling issue, but you say both screens are 1080p.

Maybe it is still upscaling or downscaling on your laptop-screen (or using post-processing filters or something on your laptop screen, but not on the TV)...

Best way to test:

Have you tried running a 720p video in Windowed Mode? (So not upscaled or downscaled; basically don't resize, or go full-screen or anything, just play the video), both on the TV and then the Laptop Screen (and pay attention to your CPU usage and GPU usage over a 3 to 5 minutes period for example) and at the end see if there is any performance difference from the data (graphs for example on MSI Afterburner).

I still cannot max out all the settings

good for you  big_smile

Haha  big_smile

I was just letting the OP know that basically if they want to buy the 6700K, don't expect it to run all the settings on maximum (you must still find the balance).

By the way Chainik, my apologies for the message from a week ago, I thought the testing for SVP 4 was for everyone that got the email, I did not know it was only for "co-authors". So yeah, sorry  sad

I have a 4790K @ 4.0Ghz I couldn't achieve the settings I wanted... But @ 4.2Ghz & 4.4Ghz I did get the settings I wanted...

However for the last 6 or so months I have been running @ 4.7Ghz constant & cooled (Note: I still cannot max out all the settings).

By the way Chainik I have replied to both the email and messaged you on the forum but haven't got a reply regarding the email invitation that was sent out for SVP 4.

I just got an email regarding this issue, this is crazy.

You guys clearly stated forever, and now you're saying that different CPU Architectures and Different Operating Systems require different methods of payment?

I'm sorry, and with all due respect, it's not our fault the wording was wrong. You told everyone that they'll be getting SVP Free Forever. This means ANY Final Version of SVP will be free to those who paid $10. And ANY Beta version for those who paid $100 or more (regardless of Operating System).

Personally I paid $25, personally I'm happy as long as I get SVP Free for Windows forever, but if someone uses both Windows + MAC + Linux, I would assume they would be fuming (pissed off) right now at this news. I too like Nintendo Maniac 64 will stand for the principle, this is WRONG! You guys exceeded your expectations and I am happy that you guys exceeded what you set out to do at the start, which is get $5000 to $7000.

But, and I'm sorry if this sounds wrong, it's starting to look like you are milking it now.

I recommend that you guys register every email that has donated SO FAR, so all the people that have already donated $10, $25, and $100 will get every version for free, but from NOW ON, and because you added the wording now into the Indiegogo website, will have to comply with the NEW rules. Meaning they shouldn't expect the Mac and Linux versions to be free from NOW ON. But all those who paid before should, because you didn't specify that they should not.

Have you ran SVP successfully before, or are you new to it and this is the first time installing?
If you're not new... Did this happen after the update to 3.1.7 that came out today?
What OS are you using? Windows 8, 8.1, or 10?

Just some questions that you could answer that might help out the person answering you later.

I just cancelled my Netflix subscription and paid you guys $25, you deserve the support. Netflix can wait for two months, don't need it for now. Can't wait for version 4.0  smile Keep up the good work.

Remember people, support the developers that support you.

Hello Developers, Beta Testers, Members

What do we know thus far about Windows 10 Compatibility:

Are Avisynth, ffdShow, MPC, madVR, LAV Filters, and most importantly, is SVP working with ALL the aforementioned programs without any issues?

Windows 10 RTM is being released at the end of July as an update for everyone. Many people will be upgrading to it (I'll probably go for a clean install of Windows rather than an actual upgrade from Windows Update), have the SVP Community been testing with Windows 10 for compatibility?

Thanks.
