h265 can be partially hw-decoded (so-called "hybrid video decoder") on NV cards using "CUVID" decoder
sadly it will hang on Windows 10

mpv uses Vapoursynth as a video filter, which seems to be much more reliable than ffdshow+avisynth combo
we'll see it soon enough

mpv on Windows:
1. there're no (?) pre-built binaries with VS support available
2. it lacks "JSON IPC" which's needed for the SVP Manager to control it

mpv on Linux/Mac:
1. VS video filter isn't compatible with HW decoding (except for Intel's GPU in Linux)

BTW, can Kodi use mpv as a video player?

The usual suggestion is - try to change the number of processing threads. Set it to 13, 15, and so on.

I'm using ffdshow's OSD

if you really use ffdshow's OSD - don't do this, it's single threaded and slow as hell
