В базе Марка фильтр по "Vendor" = "SVP", одна из тестовых систем, на которой подбирались профили "номер 3" как раз 4 ядра фенома на 2.8 Ггц, можно посравнивать.
На средние настройки - процессора хватит. Того что "все результаты из базы показывают good < 60 fps" бояться не надо, т.к. там декодирование программное, аппаратный декодер освободит целое ядро от фенома.
Короче, видяха в любом случае нужна, а дальше - по обстановке

OK, especially for you I've found both DVD drive and still readable DVD disk, which is "Kingdom of Heaven" 
It works as expected in MPC-HC with any filters combination that I have.
lickering and too bluish and greenish and picture quality varies from smooth to sharp every 2 seconds can't be added by SVP so what if just turn it off? Which version of ffdshow you're using? - try another one.

SVP must use a heap of mem to render 1080p..
It's a modified Avisynth feature - more processing threads requires more memory. In case of i7 the default value is 15 threads so 2GB limit can be an issue.

It sounds like overclocking / overheating SVP can be a real burner for both CPU and GPU, for example my HP's laptop (i5-2430m + AMD 6450) just can't pass SVPmark tests.

This's simple - just patch .exe file of progdvb with that tool and it should be OK. MPC-HC executable is already patched so it works.
I'm now using 3.06 so I can't replicate the bug as it doesn't appear to be affecting 3.06.
3.0.6 and 3.1.1 can easily live together in different installation folders
The main thinks that is different in 3.06 and 3.1.1 GPU processing is "Motion vectors interpolation mode" option so try to switch it from "bicubic" to "bilinear". Anyway I think it's some kind of driver bug for 7xxx chips

At the same time, memory usage on my AMD 7970 3gb card would max out at 3gb, and stay there for anywhere from 10 secs to 2-3 minutes
There's another feedback from "happy" 7850 owner.

1440x1080i (anamorphic) DVB-T streams would simply crash the app that plays them. However, disabling GPU-acceleration (open cl) causes it not to crash.

Obviously 50 Hz screen is the best for 25 fps source. Some people believe it's the best for 23.9/24 fps sources too - they use motion interpolation 24*2 = 48 fps + ReClock up to 50 Hz.
I don't like ReClock cause I prefer to bitstream DTS sound to AV-receiver and for me 23.9 * 5/2 = 60 Hz mode is much better than 23.9 * (some_strange_value) = 50 Hz.

Выглядит это так, как в аттаче - ВСЕ вектора в кадре оказываются абсолютно не правильными, весь дом уезжает вниз.
Ирония в том, что при любом поиске, отличном от расово верных "шестиугольников", всё хорошо
И куда это писать? носителей-то нет. Или нарезАть по 4 диска на фильм?

it's determined automatically at installation time:
and you can change it from Start menu -> SVP 3.1 -> Reset profiles (run as Administrator)
The author of that tutorial is SubJunk and he uses Interframe script which is based on libraries from SVP. Interframe aims for encoding so it can use more heavy settings than SVP itself.

MVTools is a base for SVP 3.0.6 and earlier but SVP 3.1 based on our own deep modifications of MVTools - http://www.svp-team.com/wiki/Plugins:_SVPflow
