Is  there a app that lets you see fps in real time like fraps but for videos??

There's only custom-made software that can do this, and said software isn't available to the public.

Really the easiest thing to do is to use a modern smart phone that can record a video in at least 120fps and then go frame by frame (by default it's ctrl+left/right arrow key in MPC-HC).

I use the "Complicated" shader all the time and it's definitely smoother than the "Standard" shader, but it will give more artifacting - particularly on thin lines.  In general, the higher the source framerate is and the higher the resolution is, the less amount of artifacting you will get with "Complicated".

Also, if you aren't already, use "Uniform" rather than "Adaptive" since that will also give smoother motion but, IMO, without any extra artifacting (technically it's supposed to have more, but I certainly don't notice any).

Unfortunatly my JVC HD350 does only accept 24/50/60 hz refresh rate and not 48 or 72.

Have you tried making a custom resolution?  Just because a display doesn't accept it by default doesn't mean it can't handle it (my 1080p TV doesn't accept 1080p over VGA but it totally works if I make a custom resolution).

Perhaps on the webpage some screenshots and some 60fps YouTubes video that compares the various settings would be useful...

(If such videos ever do get made, I would highly recommend setting either the desktop resolution or the on-screen recorded area to 1280x720)

The key is to get a laptop with an intake vent...which is not many laptops anymore. tongue

5-10 years ago all laptops had intake vents, but now few of them do in the name of aesthetics (or maybe even planned obsolescence).  My HP DM1 laptop didn't have any intake vents and it's a total pain to replace the thermal paste (you literally have to disassemble the entire laptop), but the fan was running really fast and loud even with the processor undervolted; so because the laptop was out of warranty I just took the bottom cover off and drilled some holes into said cover - it made a heck of a difference cooling-wise. (I'm not the only one to drill holes into the bottom cover of their laptop to improve airflow either)

If you don't have a power drill, you can instead remove the bottom cover, cut a large hole so that the fan would be exposed, get some black or grey fabric from pantyhose nylons and stretch it across entire hole and then glue it onto the inside of the laptop cover (I recommend putting weights on top of the nylons where you put the glue until it's dry).

I wouldn't be surprised if more business-focused models like HP's Elitebook series still have intake vents since they're designed more around functionality than aesthetics.  For example, my sister's Elitebook 8440p with a 35w TDP Westmere i5 and a discrete Quadro GPU simply will not go above 65c due to good airflow and freshly-applied thermal paste (the fans do get moderately loud however)

Personally I don't think combining Nvidia and Windows 10 is a wise idea...

Besides, AMD GPUs are especially fast at compute.

Nevertheless, until Zen APUs are a thing, I'd go with a quad-core 8-thread Intel CPU combined with a discrete AMD GPU, but only if you're able to set the Intel GPU for SVP and the AMD GPU for MadVR.

In another words I don't know if my TV supports more than 60 fps at input.

That's why you try it and find out. tongue

MAG79 wrote:

I never hear it is possible for TV. 60 fps maximum as I know.

There are definitely some TVs that accept a native 120Hz input.  Again, the spec for 3D included 120Hz input, so this is not unprecedented.

I'd just like to mention that SVP4 provides the options for 21 threads and 23 threads right in the GUI...

It is non standard.

HDMI uses the exact same video signal as DVI, so it's perfectly capable of such a thing.

Also, HDMI 1.4 and newer have 120Hz as a standardized refresh rate due to 3D.

Is there a way to force my GPU to handle all the computational load freeing up my CPU to do what it needs to do?

No.

GPUs and CPUs are inherently different (GPU is parallel, CPU is serial); if you made the GPU do all the work it would be very inefficiant and you'd need way more GPU power than any sane person would want to deal with.

Really, the level of multi-tasking that you're doing is one of the few cases where a 4-thread CPU really is not enough.

The manual (and OSD) for my TV states that its CMR only kicks in during "scenes with fast motion" so that might be why.

So it's similar to having SVP's "motion vectors grid" set to 32px?

Any 3:2 pull down should be left up to the TV.

You're not going to need any 3:2 pull down on a display that accepts a 24Hz input.

I do not have a 4k display; CRTs never went that high. tongue

I wouldn't be surprised if the TV does a better job since it has dedicated hardware to do it.

For the best comparison, you could try to see if the TV can accept a 120Hz input via custom resolutions (you may need to run at 720p; if it can't do 120Hz then try 72Hz for 24fps videos) and run SVP with CMR disabled on your TV.

Then try to set the refresh rate to the same value as the video framerate (so 30Hz for 30fps), exit SVP, and then enable CMR on your TV.

You can edit your own posts, so there's little need to make two posts in a row.

Anyway, I can only give advice on video files you've actually downloaded onto your PC rather than videos through SVPtube, but we might as well start there since it eliminates the internet connection variable.

First off, make sure that the video in question can actually play without issue when SVP is not running (right click SVP's taskbar icon and select "Exit")

1. In MPC-HC, try setting your output renderer to "Enhanced Video Renderer (custom presenter)", disabling "Accurate Vsync", and enabling "D3D Fullscreen"

2. If you do not have adequate video playback performance, set your decoder in LAVfilters to "DXVA2 (copy-back)"

3. If you still don't have adequate video playback performance, try setting your LAVfilters decoder to "Nvidia CUVID"

4. If still still do not have adequate performance, try setting your LAVfilters decoder to "Intel QuickSync"

5. If that still isn't enough, try setting your LAVfilters decoder to "None"

6. If after all of that and you still do not have adequate performance, then your PC hardware is either too slow or it is throttling itself.

Assuming that the video is running fine, please try the following if you haven't already;

1. Manually set the thread amount in SVP to a larger amount (try 15 and higher)

2. Make sure there is no file named "avisynth.dll" located in the same folder as mpc-hc.exe

3. Try disabling GPU acceleration in SVP; sometimes you can actually have a GPU bottleneck

And sure enough, variable framerate video is most common with internet-based video sources.

This functionality is not currently built into any version of SVP and requires 3rd party software at this time to achieve such a thing.

It's probably because the framerate is changing 23.983 and 23.925 fps.

I myself have noticed this behavior in SVP4 with variable framerates (particularly VP9/WebM videos), but I've "worked around" the issue by using SVP4 Pro's "Movie x2" (and x3 and x4) functionality combined with seperate profiles for 24/25fps and 30fps content where the framerate ranges are 22-27.499fps and 27.5-33fps respectively.

Is it hopelessly buried?  I can't find it anywhere, and nothing in the manual talks about it either.

I believe he's referring to the buttons located directly below the large "Do frame rate conversion" button; if you click the button to the right of the "Movie x3" button you'll get more options to choose from.

Are you using MadVR?  See if this occurs with "Enhanced Media Presenter (custom renderer)".

I had the same issue with my Intel GPU after installing Nvidia drivers and then uninstalling the same Nvidia drivers without ever touching the Intel drivers.

I plan on running DDU in safe mode sometime in the future (removing both Intel and Nvidia GPU drivers) and then installing the newest Intel drivers.

UPDATE: Using DDU to remove any Intel, AMD, and Nvidia drivers and then installing the newest Intel GPU drivers did in fact solve this issue for me.

Perhaps this could be something that is asked during the installation?  That is, whether to have SVP start with Windows or not.

(this would be an additional option for it, the pre-existing option for startup would still be there)

In that case, what happens if you disable GPU acceleration in SVP?  Maximium performance would be worse, but maybe it'll be consistent?

You can choose NVIDIA CUVID acceleration into it.

He did not say his OS; for all we know he's on Windows 10, and Win10 users should use "DXVA2 (copy-back)" instead.

If that doesn't solve the issue, try increasing the amount of processing threads.  Another 8350 user had to set it to something like 21 threads.
