I'm using SVP3 and it works fine.
Max stats is 12.03 over 5 seconds. That can go up to 16ms
Try disable "Decrease to screen size" in SVP3 and observe whether it still works fine or not.

Mystery
Are you using multiple display? Or watching from laptop and connecting it to 1080p display?
It simply becomes a problem if you're in W10 and you set it to "NVIDIA CUVID"
I think it's the problem of driver instead of W10. I've heard the driver already broken even in W7/8.1
I have a few 4K video clips that work when I choose NVIDIA CUVID, when I choose DXVA2 (copy back), MPC crashes.
That's more like "lack of memory"? DXVA copy back is memory intensive since they're copying back the memory so it can be processed further. And does NVIDIA CUVID really works with SVP for NVIDIA newest driver?
And for now I won't use W10, I find it's a resource hog, if I leave the computer sit, the task manager starts ramping up, and as soon as I touch the mouse pad, the CPU usage returns to normal, so I have no idea what the hell is taking up the the CPU usage.
Hmm, is that always happening? I never notice this. I'll check it later with CPU usage log info. If that's not happened in my PC, maybe you should check your PC in case of some malware.
Yeah, it is and it's not too
While overriding the value could cripple its functionality, to be able to override the value is a feature too
But yeah, since you decided to roll-back to 3.1.7, it's okay too.
In the end, what's really matter is to be able watch the video comfortably
mashingan
Pitch is not corrected for me. I see only speed changes.
So. The pitch not changed form 440 Hz to 432 Hz.
Yeah, I didn't really realized until you mentioned it.
I tried TimeStretch but ffdshow_source() only contains the video not the audio, so TimeStretch complains the clip has no audio.
While what I could think of is to use DirectShowSource to load audio only in complement to ffdshow_source(), I prefer to load it using ffdshow too as Mystery mentioned above.
Mystery
Don't forget to enable the codecs in Codecs tabs
CMIIW, I think it actually matches to the input source and resample it to our target Hz.
For reference, this is part of my last used script which generated from SVP 3.1.7
global crop_params=""
global resize_string=""
global super_params="{scale:{up:0},gpu:1,rc:true}"
global analyse_params="{block:{w:32,h:32},main:{search:{coarse:{distance:-10}}}}"
global smoothfps_params="{rate:{num:5,den:2},algo:13,mask:{area:50},scene:{}}"
It equivalently by changing value in "override.js" to
levels.gpu = 1;
levels.scale.up = 0;
analyse.block.w = 32;
analyse.block.h = 32;
analyse.main.search.coarse.distance = -10;
smooth.rate = 5;
smooth.den = 2;
smooth.algo = 13;
smooth.mask.area = 50;
So in short, you should look for your "last used script" which generated by SVP 3.1.7, and use that for reference to change the value of "override.js" in SVP 4
The resample in ffdshow is different?
To tweak the "generate.js", you should have any experience with JScript and/or Javascript. The "override.js" is supplied to make it easier to tweak the values that will be fed to SVPFlow.
In the end, you still need to refer this page https://www.svp-team.com/w/index.php?ti … ow_options to tweak it. So I'm sorry I can't advise furthermore.
When you're tweaking the "override.js", you're on your way
Mystery
While I don't have SVP4, I believe there shouldn't be any difference if the values are same between SVP3 and SVP4.
This my log when I use SVPFlow x64, it's about the same when I use SVP Manager.
Yes, makes the interpolating as multiple of exact integer is the definite way to reduce artifacts.
EDIT: I did find SVP 3.1.7 and I compared the "generate.js" files, I do not understand a thing. So am I supposed to copy paste the old one in order to revert to how SVP 3.1.7 worked in terms of haloing? Does that mean I also cripple SVP 4's updated functionality / performance?
Don't change any values or expression in "generate.js". You only need to compare the value it generates and comparing it with the values from 3.1.7.
You should look for "override.js" instead of "generate.js". The necessary values are defined in "override.js".
Don't forget to remove the commenting sign in front of each expression (the "//")
Refer to this page, https://www.svp-team.com/wiki/SVP:Techn … AVS-script
CMIIW, the ideal is FPS should be Hz-FPS = delta, where delta should be small as possible (less than one? )
The situation where FPS > Hz will lead to jerky, maybe, someone who knowledgeable will correct this
I think the different effects that you perceive are down to the "default" values that given by the SVP Manager to feed to the SVPFlow. I don't know the values that generated by generate.js in SVP 4 (I don't even know whether SVP 4 still uses generate.js).
I think your best bet is directly changing the values in override.js and makes same values with SVP 3.1.7.
The FPS usually floor-ed, e.g 59.94 usually only 59, 23.97 only 23, etc, so stick with 60Hz refresh rate.
If by chance you want to manually override or manually change those available value, you'll have to change those values in override.js.
This will help you to know what those values mean https://www.svp-team.com/w/index.php?ti … ow_options
For the mode, this will explain those (scroll to the bottom of page) https://www.svp-team.com/wiki/SVP:Technical_insights
I'm using avs+ r1779 mt edition too.
I've even been using it to watch with SVPFlow x64 since then.
Actually, it's about profile setting.
The "optimal" setting which marked as "default" is from SVP Team.
Clearly your "default" setting doesn't give you what you prefer, so you tweak it to the point which the balance that you prefer.
I would suggest you to search around because this issue (the balance between smoothness and artifacts) already asked many times, nonetheless, the setting that you need to look out are:
1. Artifact masking, set that to higher value to mask the artifact, in exchange of smoothness.
2. Change the target framerate to be exact multiple integer of the frame rate, such as the target frame rate to 2x.
3. Decrease grid step, this refinement could help to filter the bad calculated vector motion, in exchange of heavier CPU usage.
There are many others, but those 3 could be the starting point before you tweak the profile further.
This page from SVP wiki should help you, https://www.svp-team.com/wiki/SVP:Profile
TayyabKhalid
Do use the same profile setting between 720p and 1080p? It's same when you used SVP 3.1.7 too?
I have same case with you, so I use different setting between 720p and 1080p with 1080p is lower than 720p setting.
Oh, have you tried to use with MPC?
Those are known as artifacts.
To quote from SVP wiki:
https://www.svp-team.com/wiki/SVP:Profile
Did you do what advised at this faq? https://www.svp-team.com/wiki/FAQ#In_Wi … or_crashes
Although the subsection says "Windows 10", it's actually misleading as the real problem is nvidia driver which isn't backward compatible.
MAG79
He meant it's like "demo mode" in SVP 3 but with target-able frame rate for each panel, and with 2-3 panel picture.
If the "demo mode" in SVP 3 it's the difference between SVP on and off, and that's only two panel.
CMIIW.
TayyabKhalid
Have you tried to play it with MPC-HC?
I observed playing in PotPlayer has heavier CPU usage more than MPCs variant with the same setting.
Also, regardless whether you're installing MadVR or not, the default MPC setup for renderer is EVR CP, cmiiw.
Not sure this is related or not.
When I was experimenting with various SVPFlow setting, there was a time that the performance got better after making the "Buffer back/ahead" in ffdshow bigger.
I'm using 20/20 now, the default was 10/10.
Of course, the problem could be incorrect thread value, like Keis' problem, http://www.svp-team.com/forum/viewtopic … 587#p54587
Are you use ffdShow x64 elsewere?
Yes, I'm using SVPFlow x64 manually via ffdShow :3
But it's okay, not a priorities
Since you guys will be particularly busy for Linux and OSX development

It would be nice if SVP Manager stop nags me about using x64 player
Is there something that I need to set to stop it?
Even disabling the "Show OSD messages" doesn't work. For now, the only workaround is to exit SVP Manager altogether.
I'm still using SVP 3.1.7
Keis
Thanks for that OBS, tried it and quite easy to use
In timeline2, SVP 4 is worked but from what I saw, it's looked like the setting has a strong artifact masking?
sch5
For the starter, take a look at "Last used avs script". Compare it with what you read in the docs and what you observe in video.
After you grasp the very minimum of what setting that works, you can tweak from there.
Of course you can google some of unknown jargon there, but beware that some of results will seems academic
It's the approach that I took though, adapt it with what you deem comfortable
The dll's came with SVP 4 free installer seem to me like 32 bit only
Yeah, SVPFlow x64 bit is available only in SVPFlow download, and SVP manager still hasn't supported x64 filters chain. But it's already nagging at the users when they are using 64 bit players
cmiiw, Chainik said it's available only in developer build for beta testing.
Since I'm not developer nor beta tester, I'm using it manually via ffdshow
PS: If you want to reduce the artifacts, it's better if you use artifact masking. It's available via gui setting.
If you want to chain with another script or avisynth functionality, the option is in SVSmoothFps setting
to be precise: ..., mask: { area: 100 }, .... The value of 100 is the average in gui, 25 is the weakest, while 50 is weak
...
global smoothfps_params="{rate:{num:" + string(num) + ",den: " + string(den) + "},algo:13,mask:{area:50},scene:{}}"
...
Beware though, the bigger the masking, the less smooth, MaskingValue ~= 1/Smoothness
