I think this is only unfortunate misunderstanding and miscommunication.

Windows users definitely getting what they're promised.

Since you have Mac, so you only think/see in Mac user's point of view. Since I use Windows, I think in Windows user's point of view.
From my view point, there's no problem whatsoever with the campaign.

For the first place, SVP is developed for Windows, the campaign was targeted for re-writing the SVP manager in Windows.
So Mac users want the same "privilege" with Windows users when the devs need to re-write core library, not just the manager?
Oh please, There ain't no such thing as a free lunch lol

Installed without a hitch...and I must say WOW...so far good on optimal settings. The ghosting/haloing around fast moving scenes/people/cars/objects has greatly decreased!!!

Hmm, not sure about greatly decreased haloing artifacts, but I agree it decreased to some extent.
I observed using several anime videos and one movie, the anime cases are about the same, for the movie the artifact is decreased (ghosting/haloing) .
Is it because of "thin line" in anime that makes it hard to reduces?

I forgot to check the system load when using technical preview version.

I suggest you use Codec Tweak to check whether there's error in your codec and if it is, it will try to fix for you

Is this happened every time you launch the SVP manager?

This was happened too when I was using Windows 7, but not frequently. Actually the process itself was running, but the icon disappeared when I hovered to icon tray.
Restarting the SVP manager solved for me, of course I need to end the running SVP manager first using task manager.

I suggest you re-install the SVP in Windows 10.

closed source and costing money?  Blasphemy!

SolidWorks, AutoCad, AutoDeskInventor, etc are blasphemies too? hmm

I don't understand why closed source is controversial. It's not like the users that write the codes.
Even if the source is opened to public. Mostly users aren't coders, so will it be useful?
In industry, it's more logical to pay for software that you only use it, when there's something critical happened, you can always sue the developers (With reason of business disruption etc big_smile )

Oh, btw, spvflow is GPL, feel FREE to make use of it fully smile

SVP Manager is not supporting 64 bit codec and players.

Uh, SVPflow is not SVP Manager.

The rewrite is only for the Manager, not SVPflow itself. SVPflow is Avisynth plugin. Avisynth is frameserver and only for Windows.

If the devs to write the SVPflow in Linux and Mac, it's same as write new frameserver so it can support the SVPflow as the plugin, and then after that they can write the Manager.
See the steps?

If anyone can think it's really easy to write a frameserver from scratch, uh, go ahead, please by any means do it big_smile
(oh, there is Avxsynth, the Linux port of Avisynth big_smile )

I guess this is just misunderstanding of wording then.

Somehow I understand why sometimes lawyer, when writing/saying something has very roundabout wording about simple thing big_smile

When you can't see the filter in external filters, it means it's not registered in Windows Registers.

By you meant with re-installing, do you use the packaged installer or installing bit by bit (SVP core, ffdshow, Avisynth, etc)?

If one has been following the campaign from the start (before update 2), it's pretty obvious that's only for Windows, although it's not explicit  smile

Uh, I don't understand why would the Windows subscriber want the Mac version or vice versa?

Is about like this case, like one stops using Windows and start using Mac instead?

As long they update the SVPflow for performance that's the only thing I need for now big_smile

I heard every time developers release software in Mac, they need to pay some amount of money.
Not to mention the process is slow and annoying, so that's I heard. CMIIW

Since I'm not sure how to attack this kind of problem, maybe you can make a reference points with these question?
Have you tried with other players?
Have you recently update one of the individual codec (LAV, ffdshow, or madVR, or even the player itself) recently?
Can you check the dropped frame (for example with madvr it's the shortcut ctrl+j) ?
Can you ensure the present queue is working fine?
Have this symptom happened for many videos or just a "recognized pattern" video? (Recognized pattern it is like, it's like the combination of mp4 and 29.97, or just can't play hevc videos smoothly, or the video with scenes that requires calculating the mv very intense).

For what I know from the description, if the SVP index is dropping down, it means there's something problem with CPU. If the frames are dropping but without affecting the index, it means the problem is not in CPU.

Here last question, do you feel the dropping down the smoothness is only happen when it's fullsceen? If yes, then maybe you should check the resizer filter.

Hmm, that's strange, the option should be above that "DelayOnPlayStart".
I'm using SVP 3.1.7

Yeah, in some case having ReClock works is really helpful.
It's just strange that it doesn't work for mkv files (except when the video fps is half or third of refresh rate or exact integer division)
but it works for mp4 files.

(14 replies, posted in Using SVP)

Me too, but it's only for mkv files. Re-clock can detect it for mp4 files.

It's said by changing the WaitReClock in hidden setting from 500 to higher wait time such as 2000 or 7000 can solve this.
But it was still cannot detect either case.

But, it's not like SVP won't work without ReClock smile

By changing the value of smooth.scene.limit.m1 = smooth.scene.limit.m2 in override.js?

But that's to choose between 1m and 2m, not sure how to choose for 1.5m

xenonite

I only watch anime and from my observation, the default setting is better than setting described in this wiki

Frames Interpolation Mode: Adaptive (or "2m", depending on the severity of motion artifacts)
In this case, maybe you can tweak smooth.scene.limit options in override.js,

Target Frame Rate: Source multiplied by 3 (use "To screen refresh rate" for 60Hz monitors)
This certainly less artifact since you have exact integer multiple than the display with 60hz refresh rate

I think the most recommended is, the setting which give the smoothest video while keeping cpu usage downs as much as possible big_smile
for now it's the trade-off between the comfortable smoothness and cpu usage (I emphasized the comfortable smoothness smile )
higher setting which consumes cpu highly is not necessarily better smile

==========================================
Ok, back to topic,
Sometimes cpu is spiked when there's sudden change scene, it spikes really high but not very high to make the noticeable slowdown,
it's like normally ~40% to suddenly ~60-80%.
Since the TS, Mystery, keeps his setting about 80-100%, isn't just normal that he notices the slowdown?

I saw this thread before, but because I didn't understand the question, or actually I didn't know the question, so I just let it been.

You can always bump it if no one saw it before, just be aware that not all know what the answer, or everyone just is busy, or just not really interested with the topics, or etc.

(Well, for me, I am classified in the last case big_smile,
it's because my eyes never bleed because of downscale no matter how strong the video emanating "canceric aura" lol
or it's because my eyes never sensitive enough to notice the different big_smile )

Well, I just used avs script from SVP
Information -> Last used avs script

But I changed the path for svpflow for x64 edition.

I don't know very well the option for encoding using x264. Maybe you can change the option
--me to umh, esa, or tesa
--merange to 40
--ref to 8
--bframes to 11
etc,
maybe someone here with more thorough knowledge can add. Or you can read some here  setting docs

As far I know, the preset ultrafast is encoding with lowest quality.
I don't if this relevant or not, someone had encoded BDISO in h265 which he took about 10hours (or 17hours, cannot remember precisely) to finish the encoding, note that was movie about 90minutes.

If it's me, I usually take about 60 to 120 minutes to re-encode 24 minutes video. It's in 720p, if in 1080p it would take longer, about 90 to 150 minutes (can be longer).

I guess you can only google to search real-time converter (not real-time media player though smile )

Tryneal

When you're playing using SVP, smoothness option in madvr is unnecessary.

That option is disabled by default because that's not main purpose of madvr.

Those newest avs lib are supposed to stabilize the playback (such as fixing bug, enhance performance, reducing crash etc).
The smoothness itself is depend on your SVP setting, in turn SVP depend on those avs libs (mt version or avs+)

Especially if you have avs+ x64, you could try to play with smoothness with x64 video player because the svpflow newest version has x64 version, you need to enable it in ffdshow though.

man, sigh, I sorry I didn't posting it at full, I thought many here already know. wink

I installed avs+ for 64 bit, there's svpflow 1.1.16 which has x64 version, I installed ffdshow-64 bit, I installed lav-filter 64 bit and so on.

In short, I can play it 64-bit as fine as 32-bit as long there's svpflow x64, but the strange is that I need to enable Avisynth filter in ffd-show every time I play it with MPC-HC x64

Mystery
That version doesn't properly synchronize the audio with the video

Yeah, I thought it was strange but after you posted it, it really is.
Correction: it seems the MPC-HC 32bit audio is synchronized with video, but not MPC-HC 64bit. Is this because of Re-Clock?

I tried playing MPC-HC 64bit, it seems the performance not really much difference with MPC-HC 32bit. cmiiw roll

But, how to automatically activate Avisynth filter in ffdshow-x64?
I already ticked the Avisynth option in ffdshow-config, but when I play it MPC-HC 64bit, I have to enable it using tray icon.

For now, I inclined to just revert back to Avisynth 2.5.8 SVP edition

I usually experience this kind of lag when playing 1080p, even with 720p video.
But with 1080p it's more often.

I always thought this is simply insufficient CPU capability, although I'm not sure if this is your case.
That's why I set the SVP setting with 720p higher than 1080p, profile.

And, isn't this normal?
Every lags that I observed are happened when there's highly motion scenes, or many small items moving fast, like particles motion or that kind of motions
so isn't this just a normal case for CPU for calculating the motion?
