Passive would be nice, but is not required
Hi there,
I recently got a new projector for my homecinema which I am quite pleased with. The only downside it really has is that it only supports 60Hz and therefore introduces judder I am not really used to coming from a PAL-country. I stumbled across SVP and gave it a try on my MBP via Linux Mint Live-CD and was quite pleased beside the fact that performance was quite limited (as expected) - but it works + was mostly painless for me to get up & running.
What I currently think about is building a standalone (hopefully head- and fanless) linux box that is able to handle smooth video playback via SVP for a single source with good interpolation quality. Source is an elderly video processor I still own that converts any input to 1080p (no 4k required atm) preserving the source materials native refresh-rate. So the only thing the box would have to do (beside decoding) is frame interpolation. Sidenote: Consider the problem of getting the video from the processor into the box as solved.
I wonder which hardware will be able to handle these requirements and if it is possible at all to cool the box passively.
Any experience?
