Try changing HDR in madVR to "passthrough" instead of "use pixel shaders" and make sure smooth motion is off ("smooth motion" is a madVR setting, not talking about SVP). I was also having issues with 4K HDR 90fps when I wasn't having performance issues before. I forgot I had those two settings on when I was testing some stuff earlier. I know madVR HDR tonemapping is a huge selling point but just compare it to passthrough anyway. If passthrough fixes your performance issues, try using ReShade as an alternative to pixel shaders.

Edit: This is in the case you forgot to mention you're trying to watch 4K HDR... If you're just watching regular 4K as your post suggests, then this won't help. Make sure madVR smooth motion is off regardless though.

Edit 2: Forgot to mention but even if you're watching 4K video on a 4K screen, there's a setting in "scaling algorithims -> image upscaling" that forces supersampling. Any of the "doubling" algorithms have a setting called "activate doubling/quadrupling" -> "always - supersampling" which means it'll supersample the 4K video regardless of screen resolution.

When I enabled it, the entire video went red and then crashed when I attempted to play. If you don't want to go through the settings like that, then a quick fix is to make sure upscaling is on something like Lanczos. Because you don't need upscaling for 4K video unless you have an 8K TV. For upscaling regular content, I prefer the look of Cubic (SoftCubic100) + SuperRes (different setting than supersampling, it's in "upscaling refinement") + a bit of Lumasharpen though instead of Lanczos or NGU.

Edit 3: In LAV Video Decoder, change "Hardware Acceleration" to "NVIDIA CUVID (old)" instead of "DXVA2 (copy-back)". CUVID helps a lot with 4K SVP. 480p/1080p 165fps SVP still works great without any dropped frames with CUVID too, so there's no downside that I know of.

"D:\Programs\SVP 4\madVR\settings.bin" is the location.

The "date modified" of "settings.bin" is within the last few minutes so I know it's the right location. But when I restore a backup from a few weeks ago, all of my CURRENT profiles and settings that I made yesterday are still there. Nothing changes. Even if I delete the settings.bin, everything still works as normal. (There's no settings.bak FYI)

What else can I do? I've heard if madVR is in a certain folder then it'll use the registry instead of settings.bin but then why would settings.bin have such a recent date modified if it's not being used?

I unchecked SVPtube2 and deleted the "tube" extensions folder, but it keeps restoring the files without user interaction.

I don't want it as it keeps causing error messages in Sims 4.

I was able to fix it. Somehow the "use this player for Youtube" was changed to another program and that's why it wasn't able to launch anything.

Thank you for the fast response. It's working perfectly now!

I'm using MPC-BE x64.

It shows the video link's title but when I hit play, it won't launch. No error or anything. SVP 4 works fine with video files on my computer though.

How do I fix this?

It worked, thanks.

Specifically talking about the "Apply this profile IF" option. I have a profile for animation and a profile for live-action but it only stays on live-action despite running a file from the animation file path. I have to manually change the profile at the bottom left. How can I fix this?

I was able to fix it. Some ffdshow settings from before I purchased were interfering. Completely reset them and now MPC-HC 1080p videos are fine. No need for MPV now.

You can close this thread or whatever you need to do.

Again, thanks for patiently helping me.

In "mpv.conf" right? Every site says that's the way to enable MPV logs.

I tried the following variations:

--log-file=D:\Program Files (x86)\SVP 4\mpv64\log\mpv.log

log-file=D:\Program Files (x86)\SVP 4\mpv64\log\mpv.log

log-file="D:\Program Files (x86)\SVP 4\mpv64\log\mpv.log"

log-file=<D:\Program Files (x86)\SVP 4\mpv64\log\mpv.log>

No logs appear at the place I chose. Either I did this all wrong or SVPtube isn't launching MPV whatsoever.

After typing that I checked task manager and I don't see MPV showing up when I click play which gives credence to that idea.

Thank you for the quick help. I appreciate it.

Thank you. I manually chose Vapourwave MPV as the default player for SVPtube. However it still won't launch when I click "play". I can see the loading symbol for my cursor but it eventually stops and nothing happens. I also tried VLC, but same issue. What do you think might be causing it?

I should also add that they launch when I click them normally. Just not through SVPtube.

Recently bought SVP.

Maybe it is installing it but it sure isn't telling me where it installed it to.. SVP itself isn't showing that it's installed either. When I try and use SVPtube to open it (since MPV is default for SVPtube), nothing happens. It's not in the SVP folder or any of the Program Data folders. Why can't I just install it myself and choose where it goes instead of everything being automated..

I would just use MPC-HC since that's working but it slows to a crawl on 1080p with SVPtube. 1080p files on my computer work fine at 66fps. 720p streaming is also fine.

I read at the SVPtube page that MPC-HC may hang on long videos (the video is 30 minutes long). Which is why I'm hoping MPV will fix my issue.

So my question is, where does SVP install MPV to? Or if it really isn't installing, how can I force it to install? "Additional programs and features" doesn't fix it.
