Okay so MadVR is working with SVP, just not the HDR color conversion. Thanks!
MPV converts HDR to SDR by default, so that was a good solution to my problem. The colors look similar to MadVR and I got it working with SVP!
For any future readers of this thread, the SVP setup instructions for MPV on Windows don't explicitly mention that you also need to install "[VPS_64] Core for Vapoursynth 64-bit" in addition to the two MPV options mentioned in the instructions. SVP wasn't working in MPV without it.

However, I'd still like to know if SVP is bypassing MadVR in MPC-HC. I'd like to have MadVR's benefits (aside from just the color conversion) while using SVP in MPC-HC.
Unfortunately VLC doesn't support MadVR, so I tried Potplayer and MPC-BE but they both have the same issue described above.
Any other ideas?
Have you tried reinstalling MPC-HC or just resetting the settings to default? (https://ccm.net/faq/25106-media-player- … t-settings)
If that doesn't work, you could try Potplayer. (https://www.svp-team.com/wiki/SVP:Daum_PotPlayer)
Hi, I'm trying to play an HDR video on my SDR display with MadVR and SVP in MPC-HC.
When playing the video with "ffdshow raw video filter" disabled in the external filters settings, MadVR converts the colors to a suitable range for my display. However, when I re-enable ffdshow raw video filter, the colors are washed out and dark. I've tried leaving the ffdshow filter enabled and checking "Temporarily disable SVP" in the SVP settings, but that also results in messed up colors. This leads me to believe that the issue is caused by the ffdshow filter, and not SVP itself. Is there something I'm missing here? It seems like SVP/ffdshow is bypassing MadVR.
I'm aware the best solution is to simply not try and play HDR videos on SDR displays, but I would like to have the option of playing HDR videos with MadVR's color conversion and SVP's interpolation.
Thanks in advance for any help/clarification!
