That's because you are using 1.5 Interpolation (for Anime) but try those setting on the other sample where the it pans across the map (focus on the mountain range) and notice the slight juddering. Now try any setting above 1.5 and notice how very smooth that panning is now.
Though if you keep the same setting and you will notice the artifacts both in the second half of that sample around the young girl as she moves through the crowd and also around Frodo as he goes back up the stairs.

It's either we forgo the total smoothness that anything above 1.5 gives or have the smoothness but then also accept it will be accompanied with some artifacting.

I have an account there but didn't realise that it is such a minefield getting past the ads to the actual download links! If you suggest a hoster I will upload them to it. wink

To save downloading the whole file here are the two clips that I use to test for smoothness and artefacts. The 1st clip does both, with the panning across the map testing for smoothness and them immediately after the girl running through the crowd, as she will have artifacts surrounding her.

The second is just for artifacting. First noticed around Frodo's hand as he picks up the mail and then mainly down his right side as he walks back up the stairs.

Use 5G + 1.5 interpolation + Grid 24px

Yes, the 1.5 Interpolation will get rid of most of the artefacts (with the loss of some smoothness) but the grid size of 24px just seems to give less CPU usage but the effect is not apparent in comparison to 7px or 8px

I also was testing on my quad core and Nvidia system that any setting less than full seem to not work. From week settings to above normal all showed a distorted picture but when I went to full the artifacts diminished but then so did my smooth motion.

Yes I found this also. The only setting that really worked was 'Strongest' but as MAG79 says, this is not really a full time solution.

I'm using the smallest grid size but that does not remove the artifacts from fast moving objects, though it does reduce them. I hope future versions can improve on this, as then SVP will be perfect.

About quality. Crop black borders first.

Thanks MAG but my screenshot is slightly misleading. As the video doesn't have borders it's just the way the window was sized.

I've been playing around with the profile and you can eradicate the artefacts by, as you would expect, settings 'Artifact masking' to Strongest but this is at the expense of video quality for me.
These are the settings I'm liking at the moment. They look amazing on my system though they do make an Hexcore Intel CPU running at 4.9Ghz use 50% CPU usage!  smile

Is there anything I should maybe change or try out?

Thanks. I went with that theory and fixed it by readjusting the P states with NVInspector (just in case anybody else has the same problem).
This is taken after playing a movie for several minutes. (You can add mpc.exe or whatever your video player is to the Video Applications window which gives it more Mhz when the app is running)

Only my second problem left. wink Is some form of artefacting/ghosting part and parcel of the way SVP works or should it not be there at all if the CPU and GPU are powerful enough and it is set up optimally?
Are there any settings I can tweak that can either lessen this or totally remove it?
While I wait for an informed response I will have a play with the Active Profile Settings...

Regards

Firstly,  many thanks people for SVP. Watching movies is now such a joy... so smooth.  cool

I have two minor problems I'd like to fix if possible.

1. Every now and then I experience a glitch in the video and it seems to coincide with the dips in GPU usage in the following image.
    http://i43.tinypic.com/2hoxo3o.jpg

It doesn't happen every time a dip occurs just occasionally. Should it be continuous GPU usage?

2. Every now and then I notice some ghosting/artefact around a moving image against a still background. i.e.
The Hobbit.  between 00.09.50 and 00:09:57, where Frodo picks up the mail and then walks back up the stairs it ghosts/artefacts down his right side.
Is there any way to totally eradicate this?

My details:
3930k @ 4.9Ghz
Nvidia GTX670 stock speed.  327.23 drivers
Output to 60" Plasma TV (or 27" monitor)
I uninstalled all codec packs
Installed Full SVP, reset Video Profiles to defaults and 5G used.
Using MadVR, with ReClock synced

(I had to play around with ReClock but it now allows me to bitstream the PCM audio so that my Yamaha AV receiver will decode the DTS/AC-3, not FFDShow. It's a bit buggy but works fine if I don't start/stop too often)
