Thanks for the reply Mag....the reason I do not use the TV's SVP is because The smooth video Program just looks a lot better playing a MKV copy of a Bluray disc instead of the original bluray playing on a Panasonic 3D player. I know it is not the best Blu ray player out there but when I first purchased my tv well over 2 years ago it was all I could afford to watch 3D.
Plus a MKV file library is so much more convenient then breaking out a disc.

As  for max settings I mean the SVP settings for each resolution. When it drops frames and lags is the only time the CPU is getting over 90% usage

My SVP mark test results at 4300 mhz

My current rig is a 2600k at 4500mhz on a Gigabyte p67-ud4-b3 MB with 8GB of ddr3 1600 mem at 9,9,9,24,1t sporting 2 4gb EVGA GTX770 classified cards in SLI. Hooked to a 60htz panasonic VT30 55" plasma TV via HDMI.

Even with this powerful CPU OverClocked I can not run at max settings 1920-800 and 1920-1080 with some videos But I am keeping my motion vectors grid at the default levels. even when it does run with the strongest artifact masking wide search etc. i am still getting artifacts.

Is SVP so taxing that it needs more CPU power. Also I have made sure MY GPU is not overtaxed with MADvr settings and I track my frame rate with fraps.

Also is Hyper threading beneficial or not? I believe it is since i vaguely recall trying it with HT disabled and performance dropped.

Any tips on settings would be appreciated I am using the latest version 3.1.6 install package with MPC_HC.

Thanks ahead of time.

I would go with a i5 quad core CPU. I say this since my I7-2600k witrh 4 true cores with HyperThreading so I have 8 threads running at 4300-4800mhz with 2 GTX770 GPU's in SLI. Even with that nice overclock SVP with everything maxed can bring a overclocked 2600k to its knees. I am running it with MPHC and madvr "the full SVP install pack" and I have my madVR setting up high with jinc 4 taps etc and the video card can handle it. Its the extra frames at full HD that sometime will bring it to its knees. like motions vectors grid if I keep that at default its fine go to 7px small 1 CPU use passes 85%or 6 px small1 thats when cpu usage maxes out for the most part above 90%.

I think a true quad core would be best. I am still figuring it out but I also have 2 i3 2120 3.3ghz dual cores with HT one running a low profile hd 6570 gpu and the other has a HD 7750 GPU they both do a fine job also. I just cannot max anything out like i can on mu bigger machine.

If you plan on adding a GPu to your haswell dual core with HT the AMD HD7750 does a fine job even with madVR maxed out almost as much as it can be. I feel the AMD/ATI GPUs do a better job for HTPC/lioght gaming then Nvidia. And I happen to own 2 EVGA GTX 770 Classified cards in SLI in my gaming rig that cost me 450$ each.

If you did not get your CPU yet Intel is releasing a haswell refresh with some interesting new chips liike a overclockable 20th anniversary pentium  dual core. they are replacing the 4770k with a 4790k. On top of that I think they are removing the horrible paste between the Integrated heat sink and the CPU chip and soldering them on like sandy bridge and ivy bridge -E. this was the main reason for higher temperatures compared to the soldered on IHS on sandy bridge 2600k etc. when they release ivy bridge quad cores and haswell quad cores they started using gray paste instead of fluxless solder.

I have 3 PC's running SVP a gaming rig with a i7-2600k @ 4705mhz 8gb ram and 2 560ti cards @ 975 core and 2400mem 24/7 in sli.The gaming rig will run SVP with everything maxed out on the SVP profiles below 1080p, with 1080p almost everything is maxed out on the SVP 1080p profile and I have my madvr settings at jinc with 3 taps and one does not allow me to select jinc so that is on spline with 4 taps. For example playing a high bitrate 20GB MKV 1080p copy of avatar I am using around 40-55% cpu usage and my GPU usage is around 45-55% on my primary GPU and 15-25% on my secondary GPU and it looks fantastic....way better then watching a blu ray on a stand alone player.

My 2 HTPC's one with a i3 2120 cpu the other with a i3 2125 cpu both rigs have with 8gb of ram. Now I am using AMD card in those a hd 6570 in one and a hd 7750 in the other. The HD7750 rig has almost everything maxed for SVP at 720p and at 1080p the important settings are maxed like artifact masking is on strongest and the top setting is on complicated, my mad VR setting are set to jinc with 3 taps and one of them is on spline with 4 taps. My CPU usage with a 1080p movie is around 70-85% cpu usage and my GPU is running at 50% usage with 1125 core and 1350 memory just now testing it...I forgot my GPU was overclocked for a little gaming so i reset it back to stock which is 800 core and 1125 memory and my GPU usage went to 75% but it also looks fantastic. I will always watch a blu ray movie converted to a MKV with SVP over watching the movie on my stand alone Blu Ray player.  My HTPC with the HD6570 in it looks great also but I cannot run jinc settings I have to use spline with 3 or 4 taps. My 7750 HTPC is hooked up to my Panasonic VT-30 55" 3d Plasma TV  tongue It has the best picture in the house. My gaming rig is hooked to a 37" vizio and the hd 6570 is hooked to a 47" vizio.

I cannot say enough good things about SVP...Also I absolutely Love 60fps over the choppy 24fps....on top of that the Ambilight deal for the black bars is a awesome feature I have it set to level 2, I feel it gets too aggressive set any higher.
