So i suggest to put our differences aside an let bygones be bygones shall we  neutral ..

As per request, i have re-authored the animation menu + 1 chapter like u requested..  smile

I have made it easy for you and disabled all but 1 button from the main episode menu. 

Meaning, you only can pick only 1 button which is the right episode with that chapter i have stored for u  neutral

Well on that part we AGREE, only do whatever and whenever u like in life i alway's say.

Settings such as collor output, decoding, yes and even Deinterlacing → MODE set to Progressive = Disabled !!!!!

Tis all of no USE !!!  What DOES MAKE AN DIFFERENCE and i have told u that T0_0 before , is when i use MPC-HC whitout the bells and whistles such as using MPC+FFdshow+SVP in tandem .. 
Only and the lonely when i JUST USE MPC-HC ALONE then i dont experience any menu navigation headaches !!!

Again, lIke i have mentioned BEFORE.. indeed → Windvd ← which i have used many many years before i start to use mpc-hc for dvd playback NEVER EVER EVARRr gave me problems with menu's or navigation !!  l

And ofcourse MPC play nice too.. i have mentioned that too didnt i...   BUT and i have told tO_o , THAT THAT PESKY → FFDShow ← is = NOshow and IS causing all of this in the first place !!!!

I did found out all those pointers myself you gave me maggie !!!!!?!? 

But the thing is , if i can't use FFDshow for video playback (just to workarround that pesky menu issue)   I CANNOT USE SVP ASWELLL !!!!!!   AS IN SVP ONLY Works WITH FFdshow for crying out LOUD !!!!

UPdate (important)  big_smile :  i won't burden chains with the task that is bestowed upon me  neutral   .. 

So... in an nutshell.  I have stripped the movie disc leaving just the menus intact as per request, and i have done just that..

But even so... the package wrapped wheighs only 104 MB ... package unwrapped can wheigh easily twice as much...inlike 180+MB or so..
Just an friendly word of caution .. so you dont run out of space unexpectedly !!!

Now MAG79, iam curious how u will solve this puzzle...  and please.. dont fall for it.. cuz the menu can play nice and show you what u want to see for an loong time.. and SUdden BOOM → black sCreen of death ← scenario !!

just upload any dvd disc from the tv serie voyager (pal here) or ntsc ,  the region will probebly make no difference..

Also, it doesn do it all the time..  so weird..   sometimes i get to see the menu just fine like 10/10  while next i cant see anything on 9/10 attempts !!!
so...

I can tell u when i just use mpc-hc , i.e no external filters no svp no nothing... just mpc the menus play all nice .. not even blue sticky boxes over the menu buttons and so on and on...

I'll keep u posted if anything has changed...

This BLACK SCREEN IS ALWAY'S HAPPENING ON EPISODE DVD DISCS ,  and very seldom on movie discs ...!!!

Yes Root / Title Menu DVD driving me nuts !!


When loading dVd through official channel i.e CTRL+D = directory or Open Disc i always get stuck 9 out of 10 Tries ... YES LITTERALLY 9 out of 10 times it FAiLS to play Nice  big_smile ...
EVEN WHILE SVP IS DISABLE PRIOR TO MPC launch ...

Either an FFDshow issue in the first place or SVP issue... dunno if it woud matter to try out FFDshow builds one by one  back to revision 2xx or  not mad  !!!

Yezzz...  you want to go for MAXIMUM VELOcity smoothness i'dd say... any day..  big_smile

by grid 32, u probebly mean motion grid 32px...  if so.. yes... that elliminates most artifacts but also reduces the smoothieness significantly !!!

And isnt that all where we live for... to watch movie / episodes / flik ...  at its maximum peak  big_smile !!

maybe you can fiddle with artifacts masking .. but dont go higher then weak impact mode + like grid to 12 (default) or else u risk to loose smoothie again...  big_smile 

And oh yeah maybe cropping pixels;.. but that last one tends to blur the image for me .. i have noticed .. and has lil to no gain using it..

I find .. most of the default settings are spot on.. and is the best you can get atm ... and u cant entirely defeat those nasty artifcats anyway.. that is →WHITOUT← sacrificing SMOOTH playback !!!

SVP indeed has been good for me the past weeks... cool

Just ... have to fix that nasty menu navigation issues .. and maybe an Auto switch for SW deinterlacing in ffdshow ... and its done  neutral

Oh dear.  So thats what u meant by type of device !!  And here i thought lightpack wos just an neat > cool name that is chosen for that svplight addon  neutral !!!

I thought that SVPlight wos just an addon sw package for SVP that just required an LED HDTV → kind of type device i thought u were refering to.!!?

Oh well, iam happy with the current settings i have right now..

I wonder.. woud it be more smoother if i use my hdtv internal frame rate interpolation on top of it lol (True motion → 400Hz hdtv over here  big_smile )  .. only thing is and that wos weird....  when i turned on Tru Motion feature in my tv setup , the playback in windvd got out of sync.   The vidoe/audio wos slightly (not much) getting out of sync while watching stuff through windvd + hdtv TruMotion = on !!!!

I wonder how that woud be in mpc+svp+trumotion hdtv  big_smile   .. That woudnt be MAX smoothness anymore but MEGA MaX smoothness heheh... hmmm...  tongue

In my first post i mentioned that i did not used paintpack method but rather lightpack method...

The lightpack method wos selected in the app by default..

And because of that ↑ (dead give away tongue)  i wos puzzled as to why SVp light did not want to function properly !!

And yezzz, i have tried to launch k8062e.exe... That too i have mentioned in my first post ...  Have you actualy → read ← my first post from top to bottom (no offense ... maybe you wos in an hurry  big_smile )  !!

I have mentioned that i get to see only ???????? and lots of ?????? oh and 1 grid popped up at startup .. but after that nothing .. just dead sillence.. oh and yeah epic fail status..

well, not my priority... cuz... i had to disable SVP light in SVP tabs menu because during playback i got flashy light flickering issues too because of it  hmm  !!

Oh Well...  roll  cannot have it all..

just have instald lightpack 0.93 .. installed just fine.. svp gets an nice addition that is currently useless.. lol

SVP lightpack failed... but before i  get to see the main window... i get to see an popup window with an message in RUSSION...!!!

The only thing i could make from that message is .. that it is missing K8062e.exe files... or something !!

But then again... i have read somewhere arround here that ONLY paint pack method requires those files... and not lightpack method... !!

Also... have read that this feature will be in the next release of SVP.. so maybe i should wait... untill then...

OH and one other thing.. i have installed something ... but where's the uninstaller from it ????  It seems that the OS didnt register the app upon installation like other installs usualy do ?

Whats up with that ?


Edit:  have found those k8062 files in the meanwhile.... its in the plugin folder from svp... but the app is full of ?????????  !!
err... so again do i need to UNINSTALL SVP completely to UNINSTALL SVP LIGHTPACK ?  Wow... hmm

I onlhy can tell from my experience... but if you set it to max smoothie... then the default settings → 12px should be already at its peak smoothness
px 8/7/6 however may gain tad lil bit more smoothness.. BUT and this is not for the fainted of heart...  YOu'll get to see artifacts GARANTEED !!!

You can get rid of most of those artifacts by using Artifacts masking ... but that will break smooth playback again.. so therefor... its of no use to set it higher anyway... unless u dont mind watching wave lengts in ur video stream !!!
have experienced that with an specific scene from an episode disc that wos heavily interlaced ..

That said, the method of deinterlacing can have an HUGE impact on smooth playback too... EVEN though ur computer is more then capable to run SVP... it has nothing to do with the performance of ur cpu / gpu... but everhyting with SvP setting in the first place but the method of Deinterlace is just as important for max smooth playback !!!

I have learned that spending hours to get the right setting... and right now i like to think i have it right ... even to play high definition 1080p movies + SVP ....

bout that... took all of my system its resources to run 1080p material + svp in tandem whitout 0 stutter though lol..


Only thing that is still bugging me like crazy is the dvd navigation in mpc-hc is still screwed... but thats more of an FFdshow issue then anything else.... 

have tried many SVN builds from ffdshow to overcome that.. but allas... it seems they still dont get it right !!!

UPDATE 2 → SOLVED  big_smile

Have found the right deinterlacer.... → KERNEL BOB ← to completely elliminate the problem ... 

And Specific SETTINGS in kernel bob tab to completely elliminate the stutter/judder problem...

settings like... swap fields, treshold ← (important).. etc...

Cuz yadif looks like rubbish.... it distort the image .. like waves in the countours of the eyelids you know (for those that done i want to upload an close up picture)!!

ERRrrrr... it only takes 400% CPU LoADs  hmm  hmm   ... All 4 cores loads fluctuates between 90 - 97%  hmm

Oh well.... atleast .. stutter is gone while using Deinterlacing ...
And no Frame drops (SVP) so far either   big_smile

Update : for those who are in the same boat as iam right now  roll

well... it seems the stutter ocures only when i use additional Deinterlacing through FFDshow !!!

so, when i disable Deinterlace i can completely Elliminate the stutter/judder problem  big_smile  !!!!!

It DEFENITELY has something to do with the method of deinterlacing to_O !!!   ... Now... i just need to find the right setting when i watch stuff using additional deinterlacers .....  big_smile

And when i succeed in doing that, i will start to write an textbook to describe all these kinds of nuisances and possible sollutions  hmm  ....

Well, you remember i have had this phenomenon in that movie i have uploaded you to show / illustrate what the problem exactly wos...

Back then you suggested to change and set the commandline smooth.scene.limits.scene value... well i found the sweet spot for that movie .. and the problem faded away... no more stutter...

That is for that movie.... 

But now , when watching an episode it happend again... not in all episodes though.... 

So, it easily can be related due to the nature of the video material in which its encoded aswell...

Because, although the stutter isnt that bad watching it through windvd.... i STILL noticed an small jitter in that specific scene .. yes while watching it on windvd !!!
So ... this might be classified as bad Encode (video track as source/root problem) perhaps   roll

have done as you told me to do and set the smooth.scene.zero value to well... from 200 (default) to  → 0 ... but allas ... not much improvement ... but... i think it did improved an lil....

But iam 200% convinced that that SPECIFIC SCENE woud play just FLAWLESS in an STAND ALONE HARDWARE player ....
So i take that as an refference .. role model for comparison mag...

I know software players do Emulate the real thing... and emulation iS NEEEEVERRRRR 100% accurate as the REAL thing NOR will it EVER be as PERFECT ... but still...
have learned that on several occasions over the years ... working with emulated software that is !!!!

What iam asking myself here the whole time is the following ... IS HW DEINTERLACE from Amd iNFACT completely ON OR → Partial ON ← .. 
That said, when using SVP/FFDshow Default settings ..  Meaning Deinterlacing = OFF ,  Movies do look just fine ...  i.e: no distorted / garbled images just like you have seen in the video edit from that Bloodie Movie Saw back there i have uploaded and showed u... 
You remember that , and still have that file for comparisson !!

But when i watch tv-episode from retail DVD source, i →→ need ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE DEINTERLACERS AT WORK to clean up the rough edges (SCANLINES ... for lack of better word  roll )

So AGAIN,  IF and only IF my GPU is INFACT using HW → "auto deinterlace" ← (svp / ffdshow deinterlace = OFF) it SEEMS ONLY NOTICEALBE in movies.... yes all of my DVD movies look just splendid and sharp → without the scanlines you woud expect from interlaced video material ← you understand ?)!!!

ARe you talking about that last short movie of proximately 130mb + i have upload? 

If yes, then that wos just to illustrate to you what happends to the movie quality WHEN and ONLY WHEN i use additional Software Deinterlacing through SVP+FFDSHow you understand ?

Again, what iam trying to achieve here is to use an PROPER additional Deinterlacer that works WELL both for my Tv-episodes or other heavily interlaced material and MOVIES ... 
Not because i need it so much for → MOVIES ←, but rather i want to find an proper additional deinterlacer to work in both situations so that i can leave the deinterlace → SWITCH ON ← .... 

Orrrrr...  to find an AUTO ENABLE/DISABLE DEINTERLACE FEAUTURE ...  just and because the additional SW deinterlacers DO NOT , i repeat DO NOT WORK VERY WELL with MOVIE PLAYBACK !!!!!!

I ONLY seem to nEED additional SW deinterlacer for watching those heavy interlaced tv-episoded discs.... sighn.... pheww..

I hope atleast you see where iam getting at with all this  roll

Oh .. i almost forgot ...

Using the software deinterlacer in lav video decoder setting make things wurse... But only when watching movies !  So and again,  i need to DISABLE software deinterlacers ... yes software deinterlacer.. when only watching movies !

Cuz me thinks that HW deinterlacing is always on no matter what the settings are in ffdshow/filters !! ..  But isnt good enough to deinterlace some episode discs !!

So yes,.. additional software deinterlacing is only needed when watching tv episodes mainly !!!  Because of the scanlines i get to see else you know ...

so .. yeah... i need an software deinterlacer .. but not alway's ...
And iam asking myself is there an way for ffdshow or SVp to auto detect that phenomenon !!?  Cuz if hardware deinterlacing is used automatically and alway's, in that case it just isnt enough to properly deinterlace some video material mag!!! hence,  → SCANLINES  ←  .. so thats when software deinterlacer kicks in !!!

I have found the root of the problem regarding menu navigation!!

FFDSHOw external filter is clearly messing up things !!!!
And / or SVP ..  roll

When iam not use any FFDshow external filter, i have perfect navigation time and time again !!

just great... i guess .. its up to me to expermint and try different revisions of ffdshow !!!

Also... i STILL noticed some stutter in some scenes during playback DESPITE the overide settings → "smooth.scene.limits.scene" ←  roll  mad

Again, i have checked the disc itself for scratches or other things that might have read problems... but the disc and more specific the scene where the stutter ocures DO actually play just FINE in WINDVD !!!!

From what u are saying i understand now that ffdshow x64 is not yet complete and by that i mean an unfinished project that is more like still in an beta stage... sort of speak

Yean... those menu navigation problems i have had gave me MIXED results indeed ...   True.. it all depends on the combination of filters + renderers too !!!  Yep .. its an mixed BAG of tricks  big_smile

But beside that ... SVP is on the right track to succeed in that which any other software player could NOT succeed !! Or not as good...   Although some players like from Arcsoft (media theatre) are close to get it right ... and smooth playback isnt bad either... but not as smooth as SVP ... AND they seem to strugggle with the same problem that SVP strugles .. namely that noise/artifacts → waves if you like .. surrounding people on panned scenes in movies you know ...

But that phenomenon is much much wurse in TMT in specific scenes from the movie !!!

Yes i try to find a way to "auto disable it in either SVP or FFDShow" .. you see so that i dont need to switch it on and off for to watch certain tv-episodes that still need the additional FFDshow deinterlace option for some reason for an clean image quality ççç

Well...iam not sure if deinterlacing is completely disabled both through hardware accelation DXVA and FFDshow... or is it just diabled in FFDSHOW  when deinterlacing is set to disabled in SVP .. you understand ?!!!

That iam not sure... Cuz i noticed some deinterlacing is used even though SVP deinterlace is disabled (not checked)..  but its not good enough to deinterlace some interlaced video material on the fly !!

But the thing is... when i deinterlace (SVP=on = → ffdshow = on) while watching movie i get to see the garbled image that i dont get to see when i watch movies while using NO deinterlacing through ffdshow = svp...!

I have captured an very small piece from an scene in a move while SVP/FFDshow DEINTERLACE IS = ON and you should clearly see that the image is slightly garbled .. especialy on panned scenes when deinterlace (ffdshow) is used.

NOw when disabled.. AGain, i get to seen an normal healthy Quality clean image..


And i especialy want to emphasize the usage of FFDSHOW because in catalyst center you can set the method of deinterlace aswell !!  So iam not sure which of the 2 is used or maybe BOTH !!!

1 thing is for sure, whitout the use of ffdshow deinterlace, some tv-episodes on dvd have SO MUCH SCANLINES (dont know how to explain it else) !!  While other tv-episodeds also on dvd (columbo for example) doesnt need additional deinterlacing... the image looks fine whitout deinterlace !

Though, and read me now... though Both Video Sources from those different Tv-episodes are →INTERLACED SOURCES ←!!

Let me show you what i mean by "garbled image sort of speak".. 

I will share an small raw video capture (no edit/recode) → size is 130MB and very short clip... tis best to watch it in slow motion...perhaps to cleary see what iam talking about .. that or set repeat playback on  roll ←

So first i thought to leave deinterlacing ON ... but no MATTER WHAT deinterlace method (yadif, tomscomp..etc) i use in FFDShow the image looks always somewhat garbled...
kernel bob ← very good deinterlacer but → cpu ← demanding  !!

I didnt think i woud need any additional deinterlacer since, the video processing is used by DXVA = hardware accelarted = deinterlaced i asume !!

Errr.. mag .. how did you came to that conclusion?

I just have tested that theory of yours..;  And SVP indeed works with mpc-hc x64 ...   

But not when using default settings in mpc-hc !!  Also, you need the X64 ffdshow to be installed !!

Now about that nagging menu navigation in mpc...  it works splendid BUT ONLY when SVP and/or FFDshow is NOT used !!!

maybe more of an SVP/ffdshow issue then mpc-hc issue....

Oh and i just found out that the x64 mpc-hc indeed does play Bluray structures aswell tongue

Neat...

Just my 2cents to those who wish to use mpc x64 in an x64 enviroment (OS) ..

EDIT: aargH..  Mpc-hc x64 "works" in tandem with svp but only for the first minute or so.... after that it crashes "unexpectedly" !!!  Weird...  my bad... iam still in BETA mode/phase here  big_smile

Mpc-hc can crahs multiple times in a row.. whitout receiving 1 error log from svp though !!

Oh and mag.. talking about mpc-hc x64 compatiblity...  i like you to know that i dont have ANY DVD MENU navigation problems anymore.  But only when using → MPC X64bit though ...  big_smile
NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER...

I.e... in the X86 version i had like Blue Square borders sticking on top of my buttons.... or other borders overlapping language menu Or wurse .. no text / numbers in menu buttons anymore !! etc ... etc...

But ... it seems the X64 is the way to go for dvd atleast...


Maybe a good thing that svp supports mpc.. or rather the other way arround...

i have noticed that Mpc X64 doesnt allow ffdshow as external filter whatsoever !!!

And its my understanding that SVP just doesnt work whitout the use of FFDShow .. or am i wrong !!?

Update..

I have played arround with some settings .. and i have think i have found an way to use auto/deinterlaced method whitout the need of the SVP on/off switch ...  Currently SVP is set to off... big_smile


NOw... if there wos only a way to get arround that pesky dvd menu navigation while svp is enabled.......  big_smile  !!!

I know that TOO needs to be disabled in order for proper menu navigation... although... not in movies so much... tis more of an nuicance while watching episode dvd discs... like i have showed by that uploaded snapshot in my other topic...
