Hello,

for me SVPtube is very inconsistent recently. It often can't resolve links and just gets stuck at "Getting info for video '<videoid>'". It never finishes and presents download options, but just stops there. The UI still works, I can show/hide the window by clicking the icon in the tray, but even restarting SVPtube doesn't help either. In most cases, copying a different video-url will cause it to change the message accordingly, but the links are still not extracted and it gets stuck there again.

This is on more than one PC, trying multiple internet connections. The videos themselves work fine in a browser. What's extremely weird is that sometimes rebooting the PC does make SVPtube work again, but not necessarily. I just have no idea what's stopping it from resolving the links, and I can't find a log-file to help diagnose the issue. I would've debugged the app myself, but the source also doesn't seem to be available.

Any hints/help?
Thanks!

I seem to have the same issue. Unfortunately it was only after I've started my own thread here that I've realized that, since it never even close to 10 seconds or similar values...

Edit:
After giving it a quick try, this problem doesn't exist with the aforementioned Potplayer (I had never heard of, weirdly). I haven't found a way to actually open audio AND video together though, but if I just open the 1080p DASH stream in it, the video length is always correct. There is an "Open external audio..." option, but it opens a file-dialog and I can't enter an URL there, so the only option would be to download the audio stream and open it that way. There also doesn't seem to be a command line option for like /dub in MPC-HC either (at least not listed under F1 --> Command Line). Note that this player also instantly opens the video, it doesn't take ~30 seconds for it to start.

All in all it does seem like the problem lies with MPC-HC though, and not SVPtube, but getting to the bottom of it would be rather nice!

Edit2: God damn, nevermind. Video length is shown correctly, but jumping to a position beyond where it usually stops with MPC, it will also stop with Potplayer, or the player will actually just completely freeze. So it's not the fault of the player after all.

Hello,

I have rather recently discovered SVPtube and it's a life-saver for me, since my GPU (HD6870) can't decode 1080p60 for some reason. It would allow me to use software decoding for YouTuve videos (f.ex. via Haali renderer in MPC-HC) without disabling hardware acceleration in chrome completely (which is the only way for me to watch those videos otherwise). It does take a rather long time to actually open the stream (~30s), but the download-script seems to take just as long, so that's apparently normal (I assume?)

The actual problem is that the video streams of most/all of the videos I want to watch are too short by an inconsistent amount (even for the same video), causing the video to play for a while just fine, but then video stops and only the audio continues normally. I'll use this as an example video, which is about 35 minutes long.
If I open the 1080p DASH-version, after the initial 'Opening ...', it seems to play fine and the length indicated is correct, but the length seems to come from the audio stream. Usually somewhere between 12-20 minutes, video playback will stop (black screen, audio continues normally). If I click the 'copy' button in SVPtube and explicitly open that stream I'm missing the audio (obviously) but I can see the length of the video stream (opening takes just as long, btw...). If I repeat this multiple times, even for the same video, I get varying lengths for it, but basically never the correct length. It might be 12:45, 13:05 or 14:00 or once it was 18:something (can't remember exactly).

This essentially means that I can't use this to watch 60fps videos (or anything 1080p) at the moment as a significant part of the video will be missing, which is a real shame. This may or may not be related to this issue, but I've never had the video be as short as a few seconds, let alone just 10...
EDIT: after reading a bit more carefully, I've noticed that those in that thread seem to have a rather similar issue after all, sorry for starting a new thread.

@Chainik: Thanks, much appreciated! I'll test around a bit. if I notice anything not quite right I'll report back...

Is there a preview-release available somewhere I can test/experiment with?

There is a workaround, though it's a bit fiddly, and requires that you're using MPC:

Ensure that you have "show all formats" enabled. Copy the video link as always, then select the video stream you want (298 or 299) and click the "copy" icon (looks like two sheets of paper, between 'play' and 'reload'). Open MPC, click "File --> Open File..." and paste the URL into the upper field. Don't click "OK" yet. Return to SVPtube and select the audio stream, will usually be called something like "Audio (mp4, medium)" and will also be a strike-through font and also copy it. In MPCs open-dialog, paste this into the lower box ("Dub") and now click "OK". This will play the selected video stream with the audio stream and should work.
As I said, it's a bit fiddly...

I really hope we'll see direct support for this soon (even though I've only just discovered SVPtube, I already love it). It should be relatively trivial to add the format definitions to tell it how to handle and treat the streams. Looking forward to it smile
