I am trying to watch 2:35:1 ultra-wide Blu-rays using SVP 4 + MPC-BE x64 + MPC Video Decoder.

I use the MPC video renderer so I can use it with Nvidia RTX HDR from the beta Nvidia app.  Super-resolution is set for everything <1440p in MPC video renderer.  I also use luma sharpen and Sharpen in post-resize shaders and post-processing via ffdshow Video Decoder, while the AviSynth filter handles the motion-estimated frame interpolation.  Due to the sharpening filters, there are clear and present bright lines on the top and the bottom of the frame.  In the past, "detect and cut off black bars" fixed that, but it is no longer working at all.  Normally, when SVP detects the black bars, the screen blanks black, and the lines at the top and bottom of the screen disappear.

Please assist.  I want the sharpening, but I don't want the bright single-pixel deep lines on the top and bottom of the frame.

I have a new 1440p 170Hz monitor.  at the moment I can only get 170FPS if I set the interpolation to refresh.  Can we add 170FPS to the options?

some of my Blu-Ray format shifts run great in WhirligigVR after I set it up, but there are a handful of movies that show as "no active playback" even though like the ones that work were all dumped from the original Blu-Ray via MakeMKV.  This is frustrating the hell out of me.  All these movies use SVP4 in regular media players but Whirligig and DeoVR only allow some of my videos to use SV4 in VR

Please Assist.

Sorry for necroing this thread but I am commenting to confirm that Nvidia CUVID still is unusable on Windows 10 at the time of my reply (15-10-2019 Australian date).  If I have Nvidia CUVID set in the LAV internal Decoder I get a black screen and sound when the video plays followed by a full crash of Media Player Classic (Both the HC and BE variants), in both 23bit and 64bit iterations.   The only way to go on Windows 10 is to have DXVA2 (Copy-back) set and to point it to the GPU for GPU acceleration.  Since this has clearly been an issue since Windows 10's incep[tion in 2015 I doubt this will ever get rectified as Microsoft either doesn't care about addressing it or having the CUVID decoder not working somehow fits Microsoft's agenda somehow.

I find I can get 165FPS when I use "Enhanced Video Renderer (Custom Presenter)" instead of MadVR, but when using EVR renderer I have to set a target of 165FPS as if I just choose the "refresh" option in SVP 4 Pro, and press CTRL+J to look at the stats, for some reason it's trying to pup out 172FPS which is above my refresh rate of 165Hz so I used SPV 4 to cap it so I don't have any excessive resource use.

However, I prefer MadVR for what I ripped from my DVD's, especially my animated DVD's as I can use MadVR to thin and crispen the linework which makes it almost look native 1080p instead of 576p, but as I am really digging watching the files I ripped from my Blu-Rays running in full 165FPS, it looks like I will use EVR and 165FPS for HD content, then switch to MadVR and 144FPS for SD content.

In MadVR what would you recommend the CPU and GPU queue sizes for a 4.0Ghz i7-4790k (in 4.4Ghz turbo mode) and an 8Gb Gigabyte Xtreme gaming GTX1080 Waterforce Rev2 (+25Mhz GPU clock, +194Mhz VRAM clock)?  I think I have them set too high and don't know what the best settings would be to avoid the queues being either too low or too high.

You can try to add custom refresh rate 168 Hz with NVIDIA drivers. You will see does your display can handle it or not. For example 60 Hz FullHD displays can handle custom rate 72 Hz in most cases.

I don't think my screen's refresh rate isn't overclockable.  I did try setting 168FPS in SVP 4 pro, but right from the get-go, every movie dropped 4-6 frames every second.  It would be nice if MPC-HC and MPC-BE would use G-Sync and adjust the refresh to whatever the frame rate is, as dropping the refresh rate on the fly may avoid frames being dropped altogether, but I checked and even when set to 144 FPS the refresh rate still reported as 165Hz, whereas when I am gaming and monitoring my refresh rate the refresh rate drops with the frame rate.

I wonder what would perform better, setting the frame rate to 144FPS while the refresh is at 165Hz, or have the frame rate set to "refresh" and change the refresh rate from 165Hz to 144Hz before I watch a movie and set it back to 165Hz afterwards.

I found that at 155FPS it played fine for about 5 mins and then dropped over 700 frames in one go turning the film into a slideshow.  It would have dropped a ton more but I quit media player classic.

Thanks for the tip.  I found 144 FPS gave me the same stability as 120FPS did and 155 FPS would only drop 1-2 frames every few mins.  If I took it up to 164 FPS it only played without frame drops for 10 seconds and then dropped 1-3 frames every second with the occasional drop of 5-10 frames at once every now and then.  I guess an 8Gb AIO cooled GTX1080 isn't enough for flawless playback of settings of "164 FPS" or "Refresh" (165 FPS).

I wouldn't be game to set the target frame rate to 168 FPS, as that is above my refresh rate.

I recently upgraded my ASUS VG278H 120Hz monitor to an ASUS VG278QR 165Hz G-Sync Compatible monitor.  When I run the frame rate at 144hz I don't have problems with dropped frames, but when I set the target to my refresh I get several frames dropping each and every second.  I want to set a custom target of 155 FPS to see if I can squeeze some extra frames per second without frame drops, but am unsure of how to do this.  144 FPS is the highest custom frame rate in the menu.

I migrated from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and had to reinstall SVP4 pro, now I have pending updates and I can't apply them, as Windows 10 is blocking it even though I gave my admin user account full control over everything in the SVP 4 Pro folder.  Instead when I click the "Update via SVP maintenance tool" my mouse cursor goes to a blue circle for half a second, then back to a normal cursor, and nothing else happens!  I can click it dozens of times and nothing happens, and restarting the rig doesn't help.  I am using v1903.  Any ideas on how to get Windows 10 to stop telling me which apps and features I can and can't use?!  I miss the days when the user could choose what they use on their rig rather than these days of Microsoft telling the user what they can and can't do on their OWN PC!

I attached my DXDiag file if it helps the development team identify the issue, I know I won't get any help from MS over this.

I uninstalled the GTX970 drivers in safe mode via DDU, and installed the drivers for my GTX1080.  a few days ago I did that again for the latest drivers. (I always use DDU for updating drivers)

Tried the same movie today. (Return of the Jedi) and the stutters are still there in the exact same spots.  I even forced tripple buffered Vsync via D3DOverrider as it has imrorved performance of games.  Still the same stutter in the same spots for this movie and this movie alone.  Does this on .M2TS format and .MKV format.

However if I play the blu-ray on PowerDVD Live I don't get the smooth framerate, but I don't get the stutter.  Potlayer doesn't stutter but doesn't give 5.1 surround sound either, just 2chStereo.  VLC doesn't give the stutter, but because it is a 30Gb file I get grey screen glitches galore.  This is why I hate VLC and always hated VLC, those damned #$&%ing grey screen glitches!

I give up on this one.  It can't be fixed.

I got a gtx1080 and will try this video again tomorrow, to see if it is better. Will keep posted.

On a side note this new card is boss.  Battlefield 1, Resident Evil 7 and Doom 4 are butter smooth at constant 120fps.

I have noticed also noticed less frame drops on SVP4 but can't use Nvidia DSR on my desktop even at 1440p DSR all videos are a monotone green, blur or purple screen with sound :'(  I guess I need a native 1440p - 4k monitor to get SVP4 above 1080p.

Eipsode 5 works fine as I watched it without an issue.  Episode 6 is the problem It runs with potplayer and SVP 4 but I can't get 5.1 working on Potplayer and onec going to 5.1 I can't go back to Stereo.  VLC doesn't stutter but has it's own host of issues, the worst being that god awful grey artifact glitch on large files.  as the movie in question is 30Gb VLC just is awful.  MPC + SVP4 causes issues on this movie and adding madvr into the mix makes the stutters worse.  Thge first stutter doesn't appear until just after the hijacked imperial shuttle goes into hyperspace from the rebel fleet in Sullust to the mood of endor and Death Star 2.  Then every few seconds more stutters keep going, rendering the rest of the mo0vie unwatchable.

I have done full uninstalls of all components and registery valuses and manually reinstalled them and this issue persists.

This issue is not present on ANY other moves (Blu-Ray and DVD) and as part of my troubleshooting I also imaged my blu-ray as an ISO and mounted it and ren the index file in MPC-HC to play the movie in M2TS format in case format is the cause.  I only have a 4x speed blu-ray drive so i don't think that would be fast enough to run from the physical disc with SVP active.

I don't understand why this is the only movie that stutters.  It stutters in M2TS format (Mounted ISO), it Stutters in MKV format.  My Blu-ray drive would not spin fast enough to use SVP on the original disc.  I am not game to upload any section of the film to the net.

A few years ago I put a snippet of a movie (Cannibal Holocaust) going for 25 seconds on Youtube (thinking 25 seconds of footage would not be illegal) and within 2 weeks I had a copyright strike (from Grindhouse) that took 6 months to go away. I am glad I only got a copyright strike and not a lawsuit!  I learned from that mistake.

There is a difference between breaking DRM of a Blu-Ray I purchased for playback on a media center on my PC, for personal use only, and broadcasting any footage online without permission from the copyright holders (Disney).

I am not taking that risk again.  I also don't want to risk being sued by Disney and/or the MPAA.

I also live in Australia, which is coming down hard on those that do intentionally infringe copyright (after being flagged as the number 1 country for movie, music and game piracy) and I don't want to be by-catch in that net. (like a Dolphin in a Shark net)

Can you post a sample  clip?

Not without committing copyright infringement.  It is only legal to post official trailers online, and not other snippets of any movie.

Of course MPC-HC insta-crashes when using FRAPS, Bandicam, Litecam, OBS or ShadowPlay for me (Access Violation "0xc00000005"), which would make it impossible to get a snippet of the stutter issue anyway.

PotPlayer doesn't stutter on this video with SVP4 but I can not get 5.1 working on Potplayer.  No matter what I select (eg: 24bit 6ch 96,000Hz) I only get 16bit 48,000hz 2ch.  After wrestling with Potplayer for an hour and STILL only getting 2.0 stereo I guess it mixes down the 67 channels to 2 channels. I am swearing off of that player until they support multi channel audio.

What were the PotPlayer devs smoking to not properly implement 5.1 multi channel (pun intended from name of player)

I also can't use EVR (Custom presenter) at all on MPC-HC for any video.  I tried as part of troubleshooting but I get locked.  I can't use the seek bar or enter/exit fuillscreen mode and in task manager MPC-HC is logged as "Not Responding"  I have to right click on the non responsive MPC-HC process and select "End process tree"

None of my attempts have mitigated this issue SPV's internal MPV player does not, and has never worked for me, as all I get is a jerky slideshow with audio and video getting more out of sync each second.

It seems there is no possible way I can watch this movie.  It seems this issue is a combination of "MadVR and SVP"  and with MPC-HC crapping itself on EVR (CP) the only way I can play this without having the sound gimped to stereo is with VLC which gives me grey artifact screen glitches all the time as VLC simply can't handle a 30Gb Video File! AAAAAAAARGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Hi.  I recently forked out for the Episodes 1-6 Blu-Ray set for Star wars, and format shifted them to my media centre for use with SVP4.

SVP 4 does not like on of these titles, namely "Return of the Jedi".

I get frequent stutter every 4-5seconds, on this video with SVP4 enabled, regardless of the settings in SVP.

If I quit SVP 4 completely and watch with MPC-HC these stutters are gone, so it's not the video file, MPC-HC or MADVR, and I've isolated it to SVP 4.

even after a full uninstall of SVP4 and all is't components, rebooting reinstalling, rebooting again and running, this issue still presists.

Even on the most basic settings at 2x Frame rate to the most taxing settings on 120fps I get the same, stutters, of the same length in the same parts of the video.  There is no SVP setting that avoids this stutter in this movie.

atm I have not had this issue on other movies which I ported from my Blu-ray/Blu-ray3D's  to my media centre with the same programs.

This is really odd and I don't know what to do.  The movie is unwatchable in SVP 4 due to the stutter, and I have spoiled myself with smooth movies for so long it seems jerky without frame interpolation (Like when I go to the cinema and think "Wow this is jerky as hell, wait I'm used to 120fps, doh!)

I applied the 4Gb aware patch to MPC-HC too.

I even imaged my Blu-ray to the HDD and mounted it and opened the blu-ray image with MPC-HC (as I don't think my physical drive would spin fast enough at 4x for SVP4) and the same stutters, at the same length in the exact same spots of the movie are STILL THERE and of course no stutter if I completely close SVP4.

Could this be SVP 4 itself or AVISynth causing this issue on only this movie?

If you need any more info from me please ask

Does anyone else get this issue on the latest 32bit MPC-HC (Not nightly builds)?

as of this morning MPC-HC has decided on it's own for no logical reason to run ALL video and audio files completely minimized as an icon on my taskbar.  This happens when set to run as both fullscreen and windowed mode, it only runs as minimized to taskbar mode.  I have prevent minimize set in tweaks as well as disabling enhanced taskbar features (as on windows 7 it means the taskbar appears over the videos all the time), but all video and audio files on MPC-HC are now only starting minimized.  last night I did not have this issue, I have not changed any settings or installed or uninstalled any software, I have made no changes to my hardware, the bug has just happened for no apparent reason on it's own.

Other bugs MPC-HC has created on it's own is no playlist visibility and new playlists not saving (the save button does nothing) and these issues stay even after uninstalling, removing registery pointers, rebooting and reinstalling, so I bet this minimize glitch would be here to stay to.  I certainly don't wish to format my whole PC and do a clean install of Windows 7 and spend days to weeks reinstalling all my apps and hundreds of games again.

If anyone else has had this issue and has found a way to fix it please assist!

I have never been able to get SVP4 pro to work with any MVC3D video ever. tried FFDShow Raw Video Filter and FFDShow Video Decoder.

If SVP 4 is even on, regardless of the settings I get a 1fps slide show for 2 seconds before:

"Stereoplayer.exe has stopped working."

I think 2 instance of SVP4 need to be running, which is impossible as Windows Prohibits it.

Although MadVR can be set in Steroescopic player it won't enable for MVC at all so it's own Smooth motion can't be used.

I can't convert my 3D movies to SBS3D without either black bars being on the left and right of the screen with the movie squashed in between them, killing the aspect ratio, or a 3D Blu-Ray becoming a 3D DVD (1920x108 becomes 960x540) which ruins the experience for me.

Thanks for the further info. @James D

I have downclocked my RAM to 1866Mhz

I am after the better GPU mainly for gaming, sorry for not mentioning that bit in the last post *blush
I also plan on buying the ASUS ROG GTX1080 STRIX 8G for the 2x HDMi 2.0 ports, so I can connect one port to my ASUS VG278 Monitor and the other to a 120Hz projector I plan on getting in the even more distant future, as I have been turning my rig into a 3D, 5.1 surround sound Home Theater/Gaming System, in my lounge room.  I just broke my bank with a set of 500w 5.1 THX Certified speakers, to connect to my Sound Blaster Zx, so those future purchases will be a significant while away

My GTX970 only has 1x HDMi 1.4 which can only output 60Hz. So I use the DVI-D Dual Link for 120Hz & 3D ATM.

I'm not game Overclocking my CPU anymore as, when I first got it I only overclocked it by 25Mhz and even though I have a noctua NH-L12 cooler I had a BSOD within half an hour of boot up and speedfan was detecting the CPU was getting hotter, and hotter. Maybe because I had to use some intel OC software, as all the areas in my ASUS Z97-K Mobo's BIOS for CPU OC were, and still are greyed out. My CPU is supposed to go to 4.4Ghz but all I can get is 4.0Ghz, without software OC'ing it.  I am loathed to software-flash the BIOS (in case I brick the Mobo),  and just touching the EZFlash button in BIOS freezes my machine, so BIOS is stuck on same version the MOBO shipped with some years ago.
Even my technician can't get EZFlash to work, and refuses to software-flash the BIOS, citing the risk of bricking as his reason.

I have had to run my PC with the side panel off to avoid frequent and persistent BSOD's (CPU Stop Errors), ever since I got my current rig, so I thought the culprit was heat until a couple of days ago when they would come back now and then, but these BSOD's would not stay on screen long enough to read much at all, the system would power off in half to 1 second.

Lets hope I get a smoother running rig, but If I'm able to push past 100fps on SVP without dropping frames it's a miracle.

EDIT: There has been an increase of performance in 1080p Blu-Ray videos at 120fps.  I am only getting 2-3 dropped frames in the 10 mins I tested for. smile
However DVD's Resizing to 1080p are still not handling 120fps at all.  I get an instant 30 dropped frames with 9-10 frames dropped every second of playback. sad

EDIT 2: I've got better performance on DVD's now at 120Hz. I switched from "super-xbr" resize to "softbicubic (100)" resize.

Also in "Upscaling Refinement" I have sharpen edges = 4.0
crispen edges = 3.3
thin edges = 5.0
lumasharpen = 2.0
enhance detail = 4.0
soften edges = 3.0

and in "Image enhancement" I set the second "Lumasharpen to 1.50"

This makes DVD's look rather good imho.  Especially cartoons like my Family Guy DVD's as the thin, smooth line work make it look like blu-ray.

I also doubled the GPU and CPU queues, and allowed windowed overlay to present up to 4 advance frames, while disabling exclusive full screen mode and disabling DX11, as both these options killed the frames on my rig.

so far so good, I don't get any more than a dropped frame here and there, like native 1080p videos.  Fingers crossed this stays that way.

Thanks again @James D!!! big_smile
This kills two birds with one stone.  If things don't change my frame drop issue seems to be well mitigated. smile

I did a dual pass memory scan and the memory passed both scans.  I also set LAV back to "DXVX2 (Copy-Back)"  and if I still get any issues I will roll back the display driver and/or downclock my RAM.

I don't want to lug my hefty machine onto the table to remove RAM unless I have no choice as I have a dogey lower back  and my rig exceeds 50Kg, due to the high density sound proofing material lining the full-tower case.

I don't have overclocks on either my CPU or GPU as I am not an expert on voltage and therefore am not inclined to mess with it. (especially since overclocking voids warranties)

I am hoping to get an ASUS ROG GTX1080 STRIX 8Gb Graphics card in the near future and hope this GPU would not only boost my gaming expenentially, but allow me to run SPV4 at 120fps without frame dropping (and hopefully make my system more stable)
At the moment I can't exceed 100fps on my GTX970 without frame drops.

Are you saying Downclock AND remove half of my RAM?!

I have the Pro version of Windows 7 so 32Gb is used.  Win 7 pro can use up to 128gb.

I have some weird new problem.

When playing a movie on MPC-HC using the MadVR renderer and any setting of SVP 4 pro MPC-HC crashes mid movie, Usually it is either exactly 30mins or exactly 1 hour I get

"MPH-HC.exe has stopped working"

Last night I even got a 0xc00000002 BSOD!

Accodring to Event Viewer it is an "Access Violation (0xc00000005)" appcrash (I seem to be getting more and more of those on many apps and games)

and the faulting module is C:\Windows System32\Nvd3dum.dll

Using Windows 7 pro x64 with 4Ghz intel core i7-4970k, 32gb Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400 DDR3 RAM and 4Gb Geforce GTX970.

Is this an issue with "Nvidia CUVID" being enabled in in "LAV Video Decoder (Internal)" or is this something to do with MadVR renderer?

Please assist.

When I try to use FFDShow Video Decoder in MPC-HC as of last night I get no smooth motion, and the following error on the top of my screen.

Import: couldn't open "C:\Users\MYNAME\AppData\Roaming\SVP4\Scripts\3405fa.avs"(ffdshow_filter_avisynth_script, line 2)

I can not fix this.  If I uncheck AviSynth in the decoder, I don't get the error, but I still don't get any smooth framerate.

I can only use FFDShow Raw Video Filter in MPC-HC

The problem is I use FFDShow Raw Video Filter in Stereoscopic player for MVC3D Video playback in Nvidia 3D Vision, and use sharpening, levels and saturation.    If I set FFDShow Video Decoder in Stereoscopic player the player crashes 100% of the time trying to open any 3D video.

So I have to enable the saturation, levels and sharpness twice on Stereoscopic player (for left and right streams) and then when I play a 2D movie in MPC-HC I have to disable them as they drop frames like crazy.

I had this solved by setting FFDShow Raw Video Filter for Stereoscopic player and FFDShow Video Decoder set for MPC-HC. Not anymore

I got home from work and all of a sudden (without any changes to programs or settings) FFDShow Video Decoder is not working anymore.  If I try setting FFDShow Video Decoder to Stereoscopic player the player crashes everytime I try to launch a 3D Video.

What can I do to get SVP4 and FFDShow Video Decoder to communicate with Avisynth again?

I am at a loss as to why this issue just happened on it's own
