Topic: Windows 11 Crash when opening files in quick succession?

I recently purchased SVP player and love what it does but I keep getting Windows 11 crashes when using only the player.

It happens when opening movies in quick succession, it seems the player gets stuck changing the FPS to 60, the screen will then freeze, then black screen and reboot.

Dump file shows this error

VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR (119)

SYMBOL_NAME:  dxgmms2!VidSchiResetHwEngine+3f1
MODULE_NAME: dxgmms2
IMAGE_NAME:  dxgmms2.sys

I don't get crashes from anything else.

Ryzen 5600G
GTX1660 Super
32GB RAM
B550M
Windows 11 Pro

Any advise would be much appreciated?

Re: Windows 11 Crash when opening files in quick succession?

if the video driver crashes it always means problems in your hardware and/or drivers
overheating, too much overclocking, etc.

Re: Windows 11 Crash when opening files in quick succession?

Thanks!

I'll use DDU and reinstall the latest driver and see if I can replicate.

I've also got RAM that is recognised by the motherboard to be supported using the XMP profile but I'll disable that as my second port of call. RAM is in the correct slots for DDR.

Temps are fine and no other overclocking except for the RAM using XMP.

Clean install of Nvidia drivers seemed to work so far.

Thanks!

Re: Windows 11 Crash when opening files in quick succession?

No more crashing but get errors.

Unexpected error

An error has occurred. MPC-HC will close now.

Exception:
ACCESS VIOLATION

Crashing module:
C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\OpenCL.dll
Offset: 0x25F0729DC, Codebase: 0x7FF7E4BD0000
The thread 17908 tried to read memory at address 0x7FFA00000162

It happens when I open a file and quickly try to skip to a section of the video.

If I wait a second or two until the SVP is enabled watermark, it's fine.

Is that normal?

Re: Windows 11 Crash when opening files in quick succession?

Figured it out. GPU accleration is causing it. When disabled, I can't replicate the error.

GTX1660 Super, Win 11 Pro.

Any ideas why?

I read that the GTX1660 Super might have limited support, so perhaps get a RTX4060?

Do you think that would improve stability and artifacting?
