Topic: Performance issues
I've come across SVP and would love to use it since it perfectly fixes my judder issues, but unfortunately it gets tons of frame drops (30-60 frames per second) for some reason. I was previously using only mpc-hc, lav filters and madVR for video purposes and I could run madVR on almost its highest settings without any framerate issues. All I did was add SVP on top. So after some investigating, I've realized the issue comes from my CPU load which spikes way up to around 90%. However, I'm not sure why this happens. My specs aren't the greatest, but surely they should be good enough to run this on decent settings without any issues.
My rig is a Lenovo Y570 ideapad:
Intel Core i7 2670QM @ 2.20 GHz.
8 GB RAM
nVIDIA GeForce GT 555M + Intel HD Graphics 3000
My native display is 1368X766, but I use an HDMI input to a Dell S2409W at 60Hz (1920X1080). And yes, I do turn off my laptop display while playing back video.
My profile settings are:
[ExMethod=MSmoothFps_2] Frames interpolation mode: "2m" (min artifacts)
[ExAlgo=2] SVP shader: 2. Sharp (for anime)
[ExMulti=MON] Target frame rate: To screen refresh rate (default)
[ExBlockSize=32x32:2] Motion vectors grid: 24 px. Large 2
[ExRecalc=0:0] Decrease grid step: Disabled (default)
[TypeDist=Hex:-6:SAD] Search radius: Small and fast
[ExPel=0] Motion vectors precision: Two pixels
[Badsad=1000:-24] Wide search: Average (default)
[ExSadml=0] Artifacts masking: Disabled (default)
[ExBlend=false] Processing of scene changes: Repeat frame (default)
[ExDwnResize=0] Decrease frame size: Disabled (default)
[ExConvertFps=true] Blend frames to screen refresh rate:true
Settings by menu
[svp_libflowgpu=1] GPU-acceleration (OpenCL): true
[ExThreads=8] Processing threads: 8
[StereoMode=0] Stereo mode (3D): Plain 2D
[HandCrop=None] Frame crop: Disabled
[Borderlight=None] Outer lighting: Disabled
[BorderlightZoom=5] Glow amount: 5%
[BorderlightType=8:8:100:1] Lighting type: Type 3
[VDelay=0] Video delay: 0 ms
[ExDemo=0] Demonstration mode: false
[ExTearingTest=0] Tearing test: false
[EFrameDoubling=1] Variable frame rate repair: true
[StopSmoothDelayOnRewind=-1] Turn off on seek: Don't turn off
None of this looks like it should be eating my CPU nearly as much as it does. Anything I could do to improve performance?
