Topic: DVD/VOB Playback Support With SVP

Hi,

Just discovered SVP and I'm loving it for playing back MP4's and the like at silky smooth frames.

I was however bitterly disappointed when SVP did not work on .vob files from a DVD, or playing from a DVD disc itself.

I have trawled the internet and can only find others asking the same question (it was actually only a singular person on Reddit asking), is this possible at all via certain settings or is this currently impossible?

Cheers,

Dean

1. What player are you using?
2. If it is MPC-HC then while vob-file playback select: menu Play - Filters - Copy filters list to clipboard - paste it here.

It is actually MPC-HC I'm using, forgot to mention. This is the list of filters:

Filters currently loaded:
  - Default DirectSound Device
  - madVR
  - Audio Switcher
  - LAV Video Decoder
  - ffdshow Audio Decoder
  - DVD Navigator

Re: DVD/VOB Playback Support With SVP

Putting VOBs through AVIdemux and choosing AVI output solves the problem. MKV is the problem as far as converting VOB to MKV. MKVToolNix merely regurgitates VOBs as 50fps which is no good, and MKV output via AVIdemux and MakeMKV keeps the original framerate but are still VOBs by another name and unsupported by SVP.

I don't really like AVI, mainly for historical reasons (atrocious encoding with xvid). But using AVI as container in AVIdemux is fine because the VOBs are not re-encoded.
