Topic: 120hz help!

Hi guys!

I need help, but it's a bit weird request for this project because it is the opposite of the main feature (being smooth).

I just purchased a new 120hz tv (sony xh9505 or x950h) and the 120hz 5:5 is killing the film effect for me. I have a JVC projector and it is 24hz/48hz only and I love the way it looks, very film like.

So, is there any way (through a script or something like that) to force my tv to show 1:1 or 2:2 frames (24hz or 48hz) instead of 120hz 5:5? I mean, even if I choose 23hz/24hz in the nvidia panel the tv motion is really smooth (uncanny valley effect for me) even with all the motion options turned off in the tv options. No matter what refresh rate you choose the tv is always showing 5:5... I want to avoid that.

Is there any way I can fix that with SVP?

Thanks!

Re: 120hz help!

Just disable MotionFlow

Re: 120hz help!

Sadly I already have disabled everything related to motion on the tv.

120hz 5:5 is too smooth for my taste.

Re: 120hz help!

then do the opposite - 120 hz mode from PC and play a 24 fps (or 48 fps via SVP) video
TV won't get a chance to smooth anything if you feed it with a 120 hz signal

Re: 120hz help!

Yeah, I'm doing that, playing 24p content on the 120hz sony tv using 120hz on the nvidia options, the tv is showing 5:5 frames and I can tell, some scenes in a lot of movies look really weird.

That's why I'm asking a way to force the movie or the tv to show only 1:1 or 2:2 (if that is possible...) through a software like svp, on the tv options there is no way to do that.

Thanks!

Re: 120hz help!

It seems that running the screen at 120hz and forcing svp to play 48hz (x2 screen) fixed the issue. But I will have to watch more movies because it might be a placebo effect. Decreasing the sharpness helps also.

Thanks!
