Topic: SVP Transcoding and RX6000 series

Hi all,

I have 2 SVP on 2 computer and i have a question in the transcoding mode.

One with a GTX1650Ti, R5 4600HS with NVENC.
One with a RX 6800, R6 3600 with AMD AMF.
When i use the transcoding with the laptop, the GPU on the 1650Ti is always near 100% usage
But on my PC, the RX 6800 is near 10% usage and i don't think it's mutch faster than my laptop.

This is normal or I miss something?
Thanks,

Shiro

Re: SVP Transcoding and RX6000 series

Look to CPU load and GPU load. If you will see 100% then it is the bottleneck.
Possible causes:
1. Slow memory bandwith can be the bottleneck.
2. PCIe speed can be the bottleneck.
When the RX 6800 is near 10% usage what CPU usage?

How to check PCIe speed. Download GPU-Z

Click at "?" button and press: Start Render Test. After few seconds you will get measured speed.

Hi, Everything is in this screnshoot:

Re: SVP Transcoding and RX6000 series

Good. PCIe speed is at x16 3.0.
What values are showing at Sensors tab of GPU-Z?

Also you can check memory bandwidth. Open CPU-Z and look at Memory tab. You need to see Dual channel mode instead of Single.

Hi, sorry for the late reply.
I have this results after few minutes :

Re: SVP Transcoding and RX6000 series

I also have a 6800 and tried it (although only FHD@24fps --> FHD@60 and I also get ~165fps transcoding rate at your settings.

When I use HEVC hardware encoder, I get ~235fps transcoding rate

Re: SVP Transcoding and RX6000 series

It is idea! Try to transcode video without interpolated frames (select SVP profile with disabled frame rate conversion).
Will you get 165 fps too?
