Topic: Adding realEsgran upscalers to SVP?

How can I go about adding various (non-shader) upscalers to MPV?

For example, I want to use both RIFE and Anime_Janai -> https://github.com/the-database/mpv-ups … animejanai at the same time. From what I understand vs-mltr has both of these models in the nightly release (PR #42).

Why? The plan is just to upscale the to 720-960p and use rife on that. It shouldn't be a problem for the 4090. Also, would it be possible to run RIFE on the non-Tensor cores and run realEsgran on the Tensor cores to kind of split the load? or would it not help?

Just use nvidia super res. Its close enough

This would be really cool. I don't know how to do it either but seeing as most Anime is 1080P or 720P we could possibly do RIFE x2 and Anime_Janai SuperUltraCompact at the same time on something like a 3080+.

I just use Anime4k. Might not be as good as full upscalers, but it gets the job done for me and makes anime looks significantly better imo. here's the link in case anyone wants it. https://github.com/bloc97/Anime4K

It doesn't work essentially at all for old anime-style content that is 480 or 360p. (Content that needs upscaling the most)

Ya it doens't work nearly as well for old anime at low resolutions, but figured I'd share it in case someone wanted to try it out and see how they like it, at least with new anime

Oh yeah. That works pretty damn well and seems to have not much of a performance impact, at least for soft-but-still-HD modern anime. I thought it was going to be harder to install.

I would suggest Ctrl + 4 or Ctr+5 if you don't like the sharpness. And yes it is excellent for native 1080p content, especially for the small performance hit compared to esgran. The dream is esgran changes 360 and 480 to 1080 and then anime4k upscaled content to 4k.

I actually like the look of CTRL+4 for 1080p anime. Much harder to run in real time, but imo it looks better

Is there a way to get a better quality without upscaling. I am using a 1080p monitor. I watch 1080p anime but can i make it look better with some sort of glsl ? Does anime4k work like this or do i need a 4k monitor ?

The guide on GitHub is pretty dead on.

Download the files, put them in the folder, make a input.conf file, add the block of text from that page, save it.

Play a video. Press Ctrl+1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 to activate and switch modes.

Like Fortune said, just check the github. Step by step instructions are all there. It's pretty easy

Not possible. Its either svp or that

I wouldn’t say it’s impossible but it’s certainly not easy. You can use MPV Lazy and install both the Rife AI onnx and realEsgran onnx models and also install the vs-mlrt and Vapoursynth packages. Though you’d have to build a program with a gui like SVP or change lines of code every time you want to change the settings. Not to mention you’d probably need top of the line hardware 3090 or better id guess. If I were you, I’d wait a bit for a more simple implementation. It shouldn’t be more than a couple of months away

realEsgran seems to be a bit of a pain so i tried madvr with mpc but the quality is far behind from anime4k. If you guys have a solution to that or at least some setting recommendations that is maybe close to anime4k i would appreciate the effort.
