Topic: stop video tearing?

Hi
Some of my movies have too much tearing.
How can I fix this?

Re: stop video tearing?

Can you show properties of these "some of your movies"?

Re: stop video tearing?

Can I download one of these movies from Internet?
Maybe you have a link. Then I can take a closer look.

Re: stop video tearing?

They are movies I captured using SVideo cable and Windows Movie Maker from TV dish, so you cant download any of them.

Thank you. All is good there.
1. Maybe you can upload a little sample?
2. And show additional info from SVP menu please. There should be the answer.

Re: stop video tearing?

lav video + ffdshow video + ffdshow raw ?  hmm

Re: stop video tearing?

Ok I will try to upload something.
Do you want a segment that shows tearing or will anything do?

Is this the SVP menu you want?

Oh! Yes. I didn't notice double ffdShow at the first screen (Thanks to Chainik). It is wrong. You need to leave one ffdShow.
Additional info is text-file from SVP menu - Information - Additional information.
Upload any fragment with tearing trouble. Source video without any transcoding.

Why you use decrease frame size to 75% of original size for 640x480 video?

Movies are all 4:3 but often 16:9 or 2,40:1 with black bars because thats how dish TV presents them, so I increase size of them to fit screen (num pad 9), that makes them judder, 75% of original size compensates for this, frame crop also helps, tovarisch.

AND I also have DVD ripped to 640x480 WMV that presents tear without SVP which show less tear with SPV but some tear is visible.

I dont mind some tear as long as it is not obvious.

Re: stop video tearing?

Decrease frame size option does resize not crop. For cropping you must use Frame crop option from SVP tray menu.

Let's look to one of these video with tearing. Maybe it will be enough to me to find the problem.

Re: stop video tearing?

And one more question.
Your tearing with Ctrl-T (Ctrl-Win-T) looks like this (tearing vertical line of tearing test)?

http://www.svp-team.com/forum/misc.php?item=1560 http://www.svp-team.com/forum/misc.php?item=1559

If yes then you can find option Vertical sync in driver of your video adapter and turn it on (Force on).

Re: stop video tearing?

Yes, it looks just like that.
Before SVP  I increased refresh rate from 60Hz to 80Hz, disabled Vsync on GPU and MPC-HC and that got rid of all tearing. GPU and MPC-HC Vsync settings are the same (disabled), now that I use SPV there is some but not as much tearing.

SO using SPV resulted in more tearing, tovarisch.

I increased refresh rate from 60Hz to 80Hz
It is non standard. Does your hardware supports this? hmm
What is your configuration (CPU, GPU, monitor)?

disabled Vsync on GPU and MPC-HC
Are you sure it is good? I don't think so. hmm

Re: stop video tearing?

OK
I forced Vsinc in GPU and enabled Vsync in MPC-HC now there is less tearing, but some tearing is still present.

Re: stop video tearing?

Try to return standard 60 Hz video mode.

Re: stop video tearing?

27" LCD monitor supports 80Hz, tovarisch.
NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS 512MB
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T CPU, 6 cores 3.3GHz OCed to 4.028GHz, never throttles

Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo heat never more than 52c at 100% CPU
8GB Corsair Vengeance Blue 2X4GB DDR3-1600 RAM OCed
Diamond Xtreme 5.1 sound card

How do I "leave one ffdShow." ??

MPC-HC menu > View > Options... > External Filters > select ffdshow, choose Block > OK

27" LCD monitor supports 80Hz, tovarisch
I don't think so, man. big_smile
It is not standard refresh rate.
You should try to turn on Sync (Force) and to back to 60 Hz mode.

WindowsXP Home SP3 32bit
Ough! Maybe this is the problem.
When you are going to change it to Win7?
Why WinXP? Now is 2012 year wink

Re: stop video tearing?

Please look carefully.
Is this ok now, tovarisch??

Re: stop video tearing?

MAG79 wrote:

NEVER
XP has things I need that Win7 does not have.

Re: stop video tearing?

airport
Is this ok now
fddShow os one. It is good, But I don't know about your tearing problem.
Does it present on video now?

NEVER
Then you have a little chance to solve your problem. Most people (and I) use Win7. Video settings are different in WinXP and Win7.

And what about "try to turn on Sync (Force) and to back to 60 Hz mode"? hmm

Yes and yes.
I am testing it now.

thanks

Re: stop video tearing?

Here is some tearing.
Tearing happens as the Enterprise moves slowly across the screen.
See how NCC-1701-E is distorted.
The tearing bar shows it but when I print screen the tearing bar does not show it.
This screen shot has statistics, does that tell you anything?
