Topic: Frame Drops by 100s in FullScreen(exclusive)

Hello,

Love the SVP project. Trying to get acclamated to all the options and improve performance.

My setup: Mobile DualCore Intel Core i5-2430M, 2800 MHz. 6Gig RAM. Intel HD Graphics 3000 (HP Pavilion G7 1207SE)
My problem: 720p(23.9fps) encoded mkv video drop almost no frames(3 or 4) in hours of playing but once I go fullscreen, the frame drops go berserk. Abuot 1100 drops in roughly 5 mins of playing.

Here's what I have in my svp-manager.

It is worthy noting however, that 1080p 23.9fps plays with little or no frame drops at fullscreen mode, without any problems.

Re: Frame Drops by 100s in FullScreen(exclusive)

it could be about video scaling
for example 1080p video on 1080p screen requires no scaling
but 720p video on the same screen needs scaling which can be rather heavy in some cases (madVR renderer is an example)

and hd3000 is extremely slow GPU, especially if it's already loaded with SVP's math

Re: Frame Drops by 100s in FullScreen(exclusive)

Thanks for replying Chainik.
I've got Radeon HD 6470M on the same machine operating in 'switchable-graphics' - which from my understanding requires me to be plugged in to operate. And I'm not plugged in all the time, hence I went with "Intel Quicksyn" in LAV video decoder options.

Is this where svp manager decides to select which gpu to use? If not, how can I change it to the radeon HD 6470M GPU(and try to reduce frame drops).
Any help would be appreciated.

You can select only 2 jobs for each video adapter you have (Intel HD3000 and AMD HD 6470M):
1. Video decode.
2. Pixel shaders and video scaling.

HD3000 not supports SVP math. When you check option GPU-acceleration in SVP it enables for AMD HD 6470M only.

If SVP can use more than one video adapter then it make available selection by user:

MAG79,

I don't have those options. Mine is just checked like this,

If I change to DXVA2 copyback(which I suppose means use the ATI GPU), the frame drop count isn't lowered and I don't see any difference from when the "LAV Video Decoder" was set to Intel Quicksync.
What else could I try to lower the dropped frames?

It is normal. You have only one GPU device compatible to SVP. Option is not appear for such config.

Change renderer from madVR to EVR (or Overlay for testing purpose).

Hey, I fixed this problem.  I had the same issue and it really bugged me.

I simply changed the "Decrease frame size:" option to "To 1080 px height"
