SmoothVideo Project → Using SVP → svp mark
I've built a new xeon based system with nvida card and am able to run the synthetic test but svp mark doesn't run any on the real-life /fhd tests.....everything states N/A including video decoder....
what am I missing?
It looks like your xeon has not support some instructions set to decode test video or decoder is missing.
Install SVP Full and try again.

At least 3 users with XEON E3-1230 V2 successfully passed SVPmark test: their results in database.
I think you need to (re)install drivers: directX, video and audio.
Has your system any audio card?

try to set the threads number to a rather low value (<20)
There are multiple audio/video devices and I've tried this with win7 and 8.1 installed without success. Also tried lowering threads to <20 and still just skips through all of the tests. Is there some way to debug this. It seems it's going through a checklist on running each test and opting out ...it'd be nice to know why it doesn't like my supercomputer

SVPmark and SVP can't work without audio or with incorrectly drivers installed.
Install it correctly.

All audio/video drivers are installed as shown by previous post. So I'm guessing that's there no logging facility for SVPMark to figure out what its having a problem with?

You are right. No logging mechanism. Just your system has not usual configuration. 
But we can debug it manually. Start from dramatically low amount of threads. For example, 2.
won't even try with 2 threads......I'm guessing when you parse the system components for compatibility test it's inadvertently failing

the "real" tests are actually Avisynth scripts running with avs2avi executable
for some reason avs2avi is failing or crashing
may be you have some strange alfa-beta-version of avisynth installed 
I wish it was that easy....using the avs package from svp install 
hmmm...avs2avi=Command line program that compresses video from an AviSynth script using any VFW codec.

you can "run" it manually with avs2avi:

or open it with VirtualDub to see any errors in a human language

It is too many computation threads. SVP didn't designed for that
And I think it is too much to the task of real time video processing. 65 input frames lag - it is very big lag. It is more than 2 seconds of video.
I didn't setup the initial parameters......that initial setup came from the svp installation setup. I think the installation script wasn't expecting quite so many cpus and cores
SVP didn't support so many threads till now.
