Topic: Progressive Video Delay on High-Spec System

Hi, I apologize if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find any solutions on the forums.

When using SVP, I've been getting progressively longer delays between the video and the audio. I've tried it on two PCs, the lower speced one has delays from the very start even when playing 720p, while the more powerful one only starts showing slight delay after four to five minutes with 1080p videos. I've tried MKV and MP4 files and the results are the same.

Both computers are running SVP with the KMPlayer and K-Lite Codec on 64bit Windows 8.1, nothing else and all additional features of SVP are off.

System specifications -
HTPC:
Intel i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
3GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 260 @ 576MHz

Higher speced computer:
Intel i7-4770 @ 3.40GHz
8GB RAM Kingston HyperX Blu
Nvidia GTX 770 4GB @ 1189MHz

Okay, so I fiddled with the settings a bit, lowering a few of them and mostly got rid of the delay problem on the more powerful computer, but for 1080p files there's still some delay, which somehow catches up after a while. However, on the HTPC, even on the lowest performance settings, the audio and video is still very out of sync, even on 480p files.

Could anyone help me out on this? Going by the requirements on the SVP website, a laptop should be able to handle it just fine, and yet both my gaming PCs are having trouble with it. I've even checked the priority settings and SVP is on high, and set to use all available cores for processing. I really like this software when it works, so any assistance would be very helpful!

what renderer is used?
start with EVR custom presenter

and throw away the KMP at last big_smile
at least turn off it's internal video post-processing

Yeah, I've already done those.

I think I might have found the problem though. The target frame rate setting for SVP is the screen refresh rate, but SVP occasionally goes over that to 60.01 FPS (or 50.35 on my TV), and that's what is causing the delay. It doesn't happen often on my 60Hz monitor, but quite often on the 50Hz TV. Changing the setting to double the source frame rate, so between 47 and 48 eliminated any delays on both PCs, even when using the highest settings.

I'm curious, is it more problematic for SVP to increase frame rate to 50 rather than 60?

you can try either "D3D fullscreen" mode in EVR CP or madVR renderer
or use ReClock to sync frame rate to refresh rate

It took installing madVR and using ReClock together, but I finally managed to get it working properly. Thank you for the help and for making this wonderful software!
