Topic: New AMD Omega driver includs frame interpolation technology.

New AMD 14.12 Omega driver is awesome. lol

It has a new feature, like SVP.

That feature name is AMD Fluid Motion Video.

So, certain Japanese developer made a program using AMD new technology, The name is Bluesky.

That program can run on Podplayer 64bit!, and CPU usage is under 10%!!! (i7-4790k, R9 280X)

Regularly When I run a SVP, CPU usage is 45-50%, GPU 30%

But bluesky shows CPU 10%, GPU 30%.

Here is developer's website.

use google translate wink

Re: New AMD Omega driver includs frame interpolation technology.

It is interesting. Thanks. I will closer look to the Bluesky Frame Rate Converter wink

Re: New AMD Omega driver includs frame interpolation technology.

kibumm

so, if we forget about CPU usage, which one is better? smile

is AMD FMV limited to some video/codec types, source and resulting frame rates, etc?

please share your experience wink

Re: New AMD Omega driver includs frame interpolation technology.

As I can see, Bluesky FRC has 3 modes and 2 source framerates.

AFM = AMD Fluid Motion. I think?

Yeah, I think so, too.

It runs only radeon VGA, I think.

Because I can select that Modes in my desktop PC. But my Intel 4000 note book is desabled. like that picture.

Re: New AMD Omega driver includs frame interpolation technology.

Using windows 7, R9 270 and Omega (14.501-141112a-177751E) and don't have such option in CCC. Dev says w8 but don't refer explicitly that it only works in w8 so don't know. I tried anyway to install it (BlueSky), restarted and still nothing. Went to PotPlayer and added the BlueSky filter, same procedure than ffdshow, set it to prefer and tried some mkv and TS but nothing. SVP working well for my needs so no problem, just curious to do some comparison  tongue

Only thing that could be interesting is if AMD fluid motion were able to interpolate flash videos (streamed video) that can't be interpolated using SVP   neutral

I think SVP is better!

Because more smooth than Bluesky. smile

But, more artifact too smile

Re: New AMD Omega driver includs frame interpolation technology.

About AFM Mode
Mode 0: Default setting and behavior depends on the GPU/APU
Mode 1: Created 2 original frames and 3 interpolate frames when converted 24p to 60p
Mode 2: Created 1 original frame and 4 interpolate frames when converted 24p to 60p

So "mode 1" maps to "1m" in SVP and "mode 2" maps to "uniform".

But... SVP's uniform setting is more smooth than Mode 2 smile

And, I captured artifact image.

Left is SVP, Right is Bluesky.

Occurring Artifacts in Bluesky are so clear.

looks like just very aggressive scene change detection plus "blend on scene change"

Yeah, so, When I watch this scene using Bluesky, Many afterimage appears.

Re: New AMD Omega driver includs frame interpolation technology.

Only mode 1 works for me (yes I tested @ 60 Hz too). Win 8.1 + amd 7850.

Re: New AMD Omega driver includs frame interpolation technology.

Can't get it to work with Win7 (R9-290). MPC seems to ignore the filter even if "Prefered"

I test this program with daum potplayer(64bit). This program is working fine with podplayer smile

I saw some adaptive list in Bluesky developer's site. But now, I can't find it sorry..

Mode 2 by 280X + 8.1 are well in my system.

I'm using windows 8.1 now, It works good.

Re: New AMD Omega driver includs frame interpolation technology.

I'm curious about Fluid Motion so I found this thread but I'm not sure how some of the posters here tested it when AMD claims that it does not work with the graphics cards that were listed in this thread (eg:R9 280X, HD 7850) as it requires GCN 1.1+ AMD GPUs...??

Requirements:
AMD GPU: AMD Radeon R9 295X2/R9 290X/R9 290/R9 285/R7 260X/R7 260
