Topic: svp 4 and 4k videos.

Hello.

I was using SVP 3.1.7, and I was watching full hd videos on 5g profile, and 4k videos on 2g profile. On SVP 4, there is no big difference between 30% performance, optimal and 30% quality, or at least there was more difference between 2g and 5g profiles on svp 3.1.7, therefore I have a good CPU (AMD FX-8370 4.5 ghz 8-cores) and a medium offboard GPU, and I am not able today to watch 4k 24fps converted to 60 fps in SVP 4, just in SVP 3.1.7.

Can u guys fix it, I need sth like" -60% -30% -15% optimal +15% +30% +60%", not just 30%, to watch 4k vids, just like I was doing when I switched from 5g to 2g-3g in SVP 3.1.7.

the idea is it should work fine for any video resolution when it set to "optimal"

+-30% options are just to adjust your hw's real performance in case it was incorrectly measured by SVP

Unfortunately this does not work for me either.  A 10mbps 1280x720 video is only using around 40% utilization on my HTPC's 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, but a 50mbps 1920x1080 video is maxing out my CPU even with SVP set to -30% and downsizing to 1280x720.


For reference, both the 720p and the 1080p videos were of the exact same footage and both are 30fps h.264 videos (the 1080p video is in fact just the 720p video upscaled to 1080p for SVP testing purposes).

1. it's not perfect now
2. it assumes that hardware video decoder is in use
3. you, as a Beta Tester, can post a report with both "720 at 40% CPU" and "1080 --> 720 @ 100% CPU"

Octobers is going to be like Christmas with the release of SVP4 and the opening of CEDIA on Texas.  smile

Yes, that CEIDA expo, but I won't be going, however there will be lots to talk about over at AVS after the fact.  smile
