Topic: [Solved] SVP using 30%+ of my CPU in idle

Hi, SVP uses 30%+ of my CPU sitting in idle after I'm done watching a movie. Each time this happens (and it happens every time), SVP doesn't work when I open another video, and I can't exit from the taskbar icon; I'm forced to end task and restart it for it to work again. Is there a way to fix this?

Re: [Solved] SVP using 30%+ of my CPU in idle

You wouldn't happen to be using an Nvidia GPU on Windows 10, would you?

Regardless, try two things:

1. Go to the location of the EXE for the media player that you use with SVP and delete any files name "avisynth.dll" (without quotes).

2. If that doesn't help or there weren't any files named "avisynth.dll" in the first place, see what happens if you disable GPU acceleration in SVP.

Re: [Solved] SVP using 30%+ of my CPU in idle

Nintendo Maniac 64
Strange advices. Avisynth.dll not related to CPU load in idle.
It is bug. Looks like It is SVP4 manager bug. We need event log with details.

Re: [Solved] SVP using 30%+ of my CPU in idle

Yes, I am using a GTX 970 running Windows 10.

Ok, the next time it happens I will post the event log.

Log included above, can anyone resolve the issue?

Re: [Solved] SVP using 30%+ of my CPU in idle

So did you stop watching the movie at 04:31?

Log tells nothing to me. Let's go from another side.
Can you show task manager screenshot while SVP4 high CPU load in idle. I need details tab (with SVPmanager process and its CPU load value).

Re: [Solved] SVP using 30%+ of my CPU in idle

I found out the issue. Apparently if I open MPC-HC while SVP is running as administrator, it doesn't function correctly and SVP keeps using 30%+ of CPU even after I close the video, but it works perfectly for MPC-BE. I run it as admin for MPC-BE to work, if I run it normally it stops working for MPC-BE and works for MPC-HC. Both of them are running in 32 bit. I guess I will turn off SVP when using MPC-HC and keep it on for BE, unless there is a way to fix this.

Ough! I see. Thank you.
It is not the first time issue connected to launch manager with admin rights.
We will look how it can be refined or fixed.

Re: [Solved] SVP using 30%+ of my CPU in idle

yep, both SVP Manager and video player should be running with the same rights (either admin or non-admin)

Lol I gave thanks too early. I checked and MPC-HC was indeed running as admin already, MPC-BE too. And they both worked fine with SVP 3.1.7 anyway, which was also running as admin.

Re: [Solved] SVP using 30%+ of my CPU in idle

Anyway I think I've fixed this error, wait for the next update...

BUT I must note that run anything including SVP Manager and video player as administrator is NOT a good idea.
You don't need this.

Re: [Solved] SVP using 30%+ of my CPU in idle

Thanks Chainik, I can confirm that it appears to have been fixed after updating to the latest version.

If I don't run MPC-BE as admin, SVP doesn't work with it.
