it would be great if SVP supported mpv out of the box or not.

i got friends that love that player because its so simple and just works, would be great if SVP supported it aswell.
SVP on Linux will use MPV; no idea about Windows.
MPV stolen some features from madvr render. But its nice player after all (for nix).
For windows use MPC-HC/Kodi/Potplayer + madvr. They are much better.
mpv uses Vapoursynth as a video filter, which seems to be much more reliable than ffdshow+avisynth combo
we'll see it soon enough 
mpv on Windows:
1. there're no (?) pre-built binaries with VS support available
2. it lacks "JSON IPC" which's needed for the SVP Manager to control it
mpv on Linux/Mac:
1. VS video filter isn't compatible with HW decoding (except for Intel's GPU in Linux)
BTW, can Kodi use mpv as a video player?

Plex Media Player (currently in beta/preview) uses the MPV engine on Windows/Mac and OpenElec.
So maybe thats an option?

SMPlayer is good for Win and Linux, still no Mac version...
yeah, the new Plex Media Player would also be a really good thing to support if mpv ever happens.
its good to hear that there isnt too much hate on it.
if support gets good enough i guess that could come with SVP after a while aswell prob. i really dont see a reason not to.
cause SVP is a closed-sources commercial sw?
Since Mac version is available now AND there're no usable mpv-based video players for OS X, I took a look at the Plex Media Player.
And it seems like it could work IF:
1. replace built-in libmpv with the custom one built with vapoursynth support
2. add additional mpv's config file under Plex's config path
Still not tested in OS X, but successfully added some vf's to the Plex for Windows.
