what version of SVP 4? Pro or Free?
I have Pro, Before it was the same with Free.
ok, then we have the chance, cause automatic adjustment is occasionally broken
you need to edit this file - SVP 4\script\override.js
un-comment (remove "//" from the beginning of the line) and modify values in these two lines:
smooth.cubic = 0;
smooth.linear = false;
Nothing changed, still the same...
I've ran out of options for now...
Have you already send a report via Manager?
Nope... but done NOW...
All I can see is when SVP index is 0.7 your CPU load is almost 100%. This's the reason.
Please don't tell me you have HW video decoder turned off
Also for some reason many of your media files are detected as "half over-under" stereo pairs - possibly because of some matching folder path - try to switch manually to "2D mode" mode.
In fact many videos are half/under over or SBS, but also 2D ... where can i switch manually to 2d ? There is no setting about that ? So even if it works then... why is the performance 2X Better without GPU ?
- ensure that hw video decoder (quicksync) is in use
- move the perf/quality slider in SVP to the left
Of course Quicksynch is active... as i have written many times before... tried everything which can be done via settings. (quality slide completelly left does nothing, still ~ 0.7)
But i´ve found something:
on CPUZ you can see the frequency also of the Graphic device... most of the time, no Mhz is displayed... only if the video starts, the Mhz goes from 450 to 800... short of a time to 1000.. then completelly down to 450....
Now the intressting thing:
I tried dimitrie-render which also does frame interpolation and what can i say? 60 fps is done without problems and GPU enabled and CPUZ shows constantly 1050 Mhz for the Graphic-card. CPU is about 85 % usage.
What's the codec, bit depth, framerate, and resolution of the video(s) that you are testing with?
Also, what framerate are you interpolating to; that is, what refresh rate does your monitor run at when watching a video?
I have about 80 movies, all of them are Bluray rips (mkv) with different bitrates, some of them are SBS / up down 3D, and the others 2D of course all of them have it´s original framerate ~24 fps
I tried on my PC Monitor with orginal refreshrate of 60 and on my projektor which can do 48 HZ, 50, 60 and 59,94 Hz (and so on...)
I know what i´m doing....
On my laptop with I7 and intel graphics 4000... everything works perfectly. (maybe because of the i7 performance)
I´m afraid of that the i3 doesn´t have enough performance for SVP 4.... so the whole project seems to crash for me.... but still, there is an unanswered question: Why is the performance so bad with GPU then without ?.... Also: There must be other users with similar problems !??
I´m 99 % sure that it has something to do with the drivers or SVP itself that has problems working with that skylake graphics...
Here my SVPmark results:

your problem is NOT in "GPU performance" but in CPU performance
to be more clear - for some reason SVP chooses too high settings for your CPU
OR there's some other thing that we don't see that produces excessive CPU load thus breakes SVP performance auto-adjustement
and you know what is strange - your SVPmark results are worse than Core i3-4150 despite of its GPU is weaker (right?)
first three tests, less CPU intensive ("fastest","simple","good") - 120.44 / 97.78 / 68.47 fps VS. 162.78 / 112.7 / 71.22 fps
----
ok, here's an another possible temporary solution:
- place perf/quality slider in the middle position
- open All settings, find performance.base value and lower it step by step until you'll get ~70% CPU load when opening video
in the "Events log" you'll see records like this:
> 10:07:33.750 (I): Profile: using auto values (7)
where '7' is a settings profile number chosen, lower values means more tough settings
This is really strange... you are right, that benchmark results are worse... from fastest, simple, good, but high and highest.... are "good"
Btw. i tried what you have written...
09:20:27.848 : Profile: using auto values [13]
09:20:27.876 : Playback: playing at 59.94 [23.976 *5/2]
this time, the solution worked..it seems "okay" now.
But now a strange part: (again)
if on MPC, rendermode ist on enhanced Video render (custom presenter)
I can change the number even to ZERO, CPU usage is always over 90 %...
But if i change to Video MixingRender 9 (renderless)
i´m at the number of ~350 which is about 60 % CPU usage, ... over 500 i´m at over 90 %usage
> but high and highest.... are "good"
cause they are limited by CPU power and 6100 is slightly faster than 4150
> enhanced Video render (custom presenter)
> I can change the number even to ZERO, CPU usage is always over 90 %...
> if i change to Video MixingRender 9 (renderless) ... about 60 % CPU usage
this's definitely not right
so we can conclude that Skylake drivers themselves produce high CPU load
Okay... but... look at the database, there is another with intel graphics 530... i5 6500. These results seems okay... but, it he also uses other drivers... maybe i give it a try.
6500 has 4 cores, even if the video driver takes one core - it's only 25% of the CPU power... and 50% of your i3
BTW, it may be interesting: take any native 60 fps video and compare CPU load on EVR-CP+bicubic resize and overlay/VMR w/o SVP running
Yes, 6500 hast 4 cores,... but i3 4150 has only 2 and has much better results.
Btw:
tested what you have written with native 60fps and SVP OFF.
overlay: ~ 28-30 % usage.
EVR-CP ~ 45 % usage
45 % usage
I think it is too much.
My laptop with i3-3217U gives to me:
- 25% CPU load with EVR Custom in window and 18% in FullScreen mode;
- 13% with Overlay mixer in window and 25% in FullScreen mode;
I used video:
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1280x690 59.94fps 2349kbps [V: jungle317_encoded_encoded.mp4 (h264 high L4.1, yuv420p, 1280x690, 2349 kb/s)]
Audio: AAC 44100Hz stereo 191kbps [A: jungle_track2.aac (aac lc, 44100 Hz, stereo, 191 kb/s)]
Try to disable any PixelShaders (PS2) in EVR Custom. Use bilinear resizer and disable shaders in Shaders tab.
I used video:
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x800 59.94fps [V: h264 high L4.2, yuv420p, 1920x800 [default]]
Audio: DTS 48000Hz 6ch 1536kbps [A: German [ger] (dts, 48000 Hz, 5.1, 1536 kb/s) [default]]
Tried what you have written, still ~ same usage.
and i3-3217U is more than twice slower than i3-6100...
FullHD and core i3-3217U:
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x1080 60fps [V: h264 high L4.2, yuv420p, 1920x1080]
Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 448kbps [A: ac3, 48000 Hz, 5.1, 448 kb/s]
MPC-HC:
Overlay in Window(zoom50%) = 25% CPU load
Overlay in Fullscreen = 28%
EVR Custom in Window(zoom50%) = 40%
EVR Custom in Fullscreen = 35%
For comparing this video with internal win10 application "Movies & TV" gives 8% CPU load in window and 7% in Fullscreen. Compare to yours results.
This is really strange...
Something is broken here... Maybe i try some different benchmark apps.
Benchmarks (CPU, and encoding) seems Okay.
But just to be clear:
Can´t we say the solution is to use overlay setting and set the CPU performance to somthing like ~400 ?
Or am i wrong?
