Topic: EVR unavailable after Windows Anniversary update

Hi,

I recently updated my computer with the Anniversary Update, but since that, SVP does not work anymore.

I have the following message when i double click a video :

and if I check the settings this is what I have :

I tried to uninstall/reinstall but nothing changed.

Any suggestion? Thanks

manually reinstall video drivers?

Hi Chainik,

I tried to reinstall but nothing change. Am I the only one here to have a problem like this?

Thank you for you attention.

Re: EVR unavailable after Windows Anniversary update

Well i installed madVR and it seems to work for now. Is there a big difference between EVR (custom presenter) and madVR?

Re: EVR unavailable after Windows Anniversary update

madVR is for powerfull GPUs, EVR is for other GPUs.
Difference in customization and in quality.

DXVA upscaling in madVR gives similar quality to bicubic but required less performance than Bicubic via EVR; I take advantage of this on my lowly 3100m (basically the Quadro equivalent of the Geforce G210).

The key though it that this requires a GPU with DXVA support (pretty much any GPU made in the last 7 years).  However, GPUs without DXVA support are usually so low-end that they can only do bilinear (non-PS2.0) or nearest neighbor scaling anyway, so madVR is usually kind of pointless in such cases.

Also if you're not doing any upscaling at all, then EVR with D3D Fullscreen should still require less performance no matter what.

If you google your error message you'll find a few forum posts starting from 2010, mostly concerning CCCP / K-Lite codec packs, but w/o any real solution.
Obviously something was broken in the system files in the upgrade process.

These are unnecessary nowadays so uninstall any such codec packs.

Re: EVR unavailable after Windows Anniversary update

Ok thanks for your answers. Actually when I asked if there is someone in the same situation, I was talking about having this problem after the Anniversary Update.
