Topic: everything set up fine but problems occur please help

Hello

my specs : fx8320, GTX 970, mpchc, dxva copy back, GPU acceleration on, madvr

the problem ;

I try to play videos and it frequently looks like a frame was dropped, resulting in very punctual judder say once every two secs.

sometimes mpc OR SVP will crash, never both at the same time

I checked my GPU state and everytime I play a video, it throttles to state 2 (limited GPU/memory frequency) as shown on attachment : in green the normal frequency while playing games, in red the frequencies when using MPC HC

Everything else works fine

Anyone know what is happening ?

ParanormalBanana
I think SVP's calculations and madVR uses your GPU more intensively than your game.
Of course judder is not good and you need to completely remove the judder.

But I see 3 problems:
1. SVP and Player crushes. To fix it we need to know details of the errors from windows log.
2. Judder at video. You can test presence of judder by enabling tearing test line. If it moves not smoothly then:
- reduce madVR settings or switch to EVR Custom with D3D Fullscreen;
- reduce SVP settings.
3. GPU throttling. You need to enhance GPU cooling. But don't see the temperature values. Is it really throttling?

Re: everything set up fine but problems occur please help

Hello,

Thank you for responding

So, about the 3 problems :

1 : How can I get those logs ?

2 : The tearing test line moves perfectly smoothly, even when the judder happens ! It's very slight, for example when a character is moving from side to side on screen, I can sometimes notice that at a point, a frame was dropped or something and it looks like the character teleported a centimeter... I don't know if I explain it right.

3 : GPU cooling isn't the problem, I have a watercooling solution, and my fans don't even blow so much while playing a movie. I have been tweaking madvr and SVP to the lowest acceptable parameters so that I get a pretty good video quality without having to suffer fan noise.

So regarding fact #3, I don't think that video playback uses my GPU more intensively that games at all, I have done all that was possible so that it doesn't use it intensively at all to keep my GPU cool.

Also, my GPU never throttles because of heat because it simply cannot, the cooling is too good, and I have the fans on a custom curve.

Anyways, my GPU never throttles because of anything because I have modded my bios to remove any of those power and voltage limitations, so I have no idea why it would do this. I play games in ultra settings at 2160p and the fans blow like crazy, my frequs are stable and everything seems fine under a huge load.

In this case, the frequencies always go down to the same values : 1240 GPU and 3600 memory, as if it was a security of some sorts, which is why I mentioned it, because I think those symptoms are related.

So the "problem" I need to solve is the occasional, very slight stuttering which is very distracting. anything else is just information in order to understand the problem.

Any ideas ?

Re: everything set up fine but problems occur please help

Recent builds of Windows 10 are not always compatible with MadVr. The result is identical with your description: "occasional, very slight stuttering which is very distracting." Have you tried switching to EVR Custom?

Re: everything set up fine but problems occur please help

> How can I get those logs ?
For Windows 10: Right click on Start button - View events - Windows logs - Application - <Wait for some time to list genetation completes> - Click on error - press Copy button - paste here.

>The tearing test line moves perfectly smoothly, even when the judder happens
Smooth motion of tearing test line is good sign. It is mean either you have source video with stutter (dropped frames) or you are using not fluidity smoothing settings.
To customize smoothing settings you need have SVP 4 PRO.
For SVP4 PRO: Control panel - Create or select user profile - disable Automatic option selection - select:
Frames interpolation mode: Uniform (max fluidity)
Artifacts masking: Disabled
Processing of scene changes: Blend adjacent frames

It will add more fluidity to video.

This happen for me too, and I notice that every time this is discussed, no one really fixed,or no one posted, I don't want to switch to EVR, so what we really do to solve this, or more precisely what we looking for cause , I will post any information required. Thanks in advance

Hi DlR5668, thanks for reply, and if you set FSE, is the problem occurs? Or which settings brings the micro stutter.

EDIT :I overlook your post, that you use reclock, so bring the question is reclock the only possible way

exclusive, Dx11 all crash on this PC

Re: everything set up fine but problems occur please help

I came back from work decided to eliminate my stuttering problems, so while traveling to my house I was thinking which setting could be affecting reproduction, and I remembered reading a post about V-sync, so i told myself , this  will be the first to try, https://www.geforce.com/Active/en_US/shared/images/articles/introducing-the-geforce-gtx-680-gpu/AdaptiveVSync-1-650.png, now when drop down the options on nvidia control panel I spot and option call "fast" , reading the description below, I click this option with the certainty ,that will solve my problem and it did!!! http://simhq.com/forum/files/usergals/2016/07/full-14437-124326-fastsync.jpg
I hope this be usefull to other users

Re: everything set up fine but problems occur please help

I realy think that the only one value is suitable for SVP: VSync = on.
All other values can lead to tearing artifacts.
VSync = Fast is looks like lifehack wink

What is tearing artifacts look at picture below

Lifehack=a strategy or technique adopted in order to manage one's time and daily activities in a more efficient way. smile

MAG79 I always think that way but with VSync=on
http://www.legitreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/vsync-on-stutter.png

and the other hand VSync=off
https://www.gamersnexus.net/images/media/2014/ces/GSYNC7-1000x562.jpg

then Adaptive VSync =on is not entirely suitable, because eliminate tearing but stuttering
http://international.download.nvidia.com/webassets/en_US/shared/images/articles/introducing-the-geforce-gtx-680-gpu/AdaptiveVSync-2-650.png

what take us to the point of choose Fast Sync (Pascal and Maxwell)

Can anyone help?

check mpv config file for

opengl-backend=dxinterop

check mpv log after or run mpv from console to show stats like
