Topic: SVP for Plex still work?

I'm trying to set up SVP to work with Plex Media Player, and after following all the steps, PMP just crashes every time I try to load it up.  It only crashes after I following the instructions for integrating SVP.  Is there any reason this might be happening?  Do I need an older version of PMP to make it work?

Thanks.

It also generated a WER file, if you want to see that, too.

Re: SVP for Plex still work?

Just updated to the latest version - still works.

Does PMP crashes instantly at launch or after the video playback start?

Re: SVP for Plex still work?

My PMP was also crashing about 5-7 seconds into launching if SVP was enabled. I found that my TV (setup as a 3rd monitor above the main two) was running at some slightly weird resolution just below 1080p and at 59hz. I've had it happen before on driver updates. Once I set it to 1080p @ 60hz it stopped crashing.

Huh, that's interesting.  I do have 2 monitors, and they're both different refresh rates.  One is 1080p @60, the other is 1440p @144.  Let me see what happens when I play with refresh rates.

Edit: This didn't work, but I did notice a different error this time around.  It's showing something related to ntdll.dll.  Is this anything significant?

Re: SVP for Plex still work?

Sorry for bumping again, but I noticed something.  In the directions for set up, it says it requires Python 64-bit.  When I open task manager, I see a Python task running but in 32-bit.  What should I do to insure a 64-bit  is running, or is that all automated?

Re: SVP for Plex still work?

> I see a Python task running but in 32-bit

this's something else, SVP doesn't run Python as a separate process (though it uses embedded 32-bit Python for SVPtube)

Re: SVP for Plex still work?

Yeah, just a little frustrated.  I thought maybe I could create a new account on Windows to see if some other program was causing the issues, but my SVP registration key doesn't follow with me.

Just one stupid question I have.  I don't have Plex Premium, and I noticed that it says it "might" be a requirement for the 64-bit version of PMP.  This doesn't apply anymore because all versions are 64-bit now, right?

Sorry, I'm just so determined to figure out a solution.

Re: SVP for Plex still work?

> it says it "might" be a requirement for the 64-bit version of PMP

They used to give PMP only for Premium members...

> I thought maybe I could create a new account on Windows to see if some other program was causing the issues, but my SVP registration key doesn't follow with me.

SVP should accept the same key under different user account on the same PC hmm

Re: SVP for Plex still work?

I didn't know that.  I thought it would rob me of using SVP on my main account.

So I got SVP up and running in the other account, which meant that something I was running on my main account must have been causing the crash.  I knew it had to be something so stupid, because that's usually how issues such as these occur.

The culprit?  MSI Afterburner.  yikes yikes yikes   I cannot believe after all this time it was that.

Anyway, it's up and running now, and everything is working.  Thanks for those who contributed and tried to help me out.  I know how trying to solve these issues can sometimes be like pissing in the wind.

Re: SVP for Plex still work?

> everything is working
Congratulations!

> MSI Afterburner
Thanks for information.

Re: SVP for Plex still work?

Yep, and just to add to that.  My MSI Afterburner runs with Riva Tuner Statistics Server alongside it.  I didn't test to see if turning off RTSS alone might fix it, just in case you guys try to sort out any software conflicts in the future.

I'm just glad PMP w/ SVP works now.  smile
