Topic: Oculus Go, Android, and SVP

With the release of Oculus Go imminent I'm wondering if there's an equivalent of SVP on Android, or if SVP can run on Android. Currently I use the Rift with Whirligig which incorporates SVP, and it's an essential part of enjoying video - the bigger the screen the greater the perception of motion blur/stutter, so getting rid of it is key.

I'd like to have standalone VR mainly for viewing video... but without SVP? I don't know.

you can stream it with SVPcast

Not good at all. Creates artefacts with the usual intermittent stop/start, which defeats the whole purpose of smooth motion. Maybe it'll be different in the VR headset.

I don't get it. What do you mean? hmm

Re: Oculus Go, Android, and SVP

I mean the video breaks up... constant stuttering... loss of audio... stops and starts. Fine with low bitrate/resolution, but useless streaming HD video.

Re: Oculus Go, Android, and SVP

ensure that encoding settings are not too heavy for the hardware to do real-time encoding
adjust the bandwidth
try another Android player (MX Player is fine)

Re: Oculus Go, Android, and SVP

I use MX Player. Tried various encoders/bandwidth - Nvidia H264 gives best results, but playback is still very unsatisfactory with audio cutouts, jerky video and stop/start.

My laptop is an 1070 ROG, btw.
