Topic: Video display Croping 4K to 16:9 FHD

Hi.
I would like to play 4K movies at FHD 16:9 TV to use every pixel in 1920x1080 screen.
For example, theatrical movie 4K at ratio 2.38:1 is about 3840x1608. I want to crop it to 16:9 ratio (remove some left and right piece of image), and then downscale to 1080p.
Off course source file need to be decoded from 3840x1608 and be displayed at 1920x1080.
For SVP and computer, will it be the same CPU usage to show content at 60fps 1920x1080 from 3840x1608 24fps file like it would be in case of 3840x1608 60fps?

Re: Video display Croping 4K to 16:9 FHD

I'd say it will need half of CPU power required for 3840*1608, considering you have full HW decoder for H.265/4K, of cause.

Will laptop with Ryzen 5 handle it?

Yeah, I believe it will, but it may depend on the laptop itself i.e. how good is its cooling system.
