Topic: How do I shift more workload to CPU (not GPU)?

9900k
rtx-2080
32gb ram
win 10
potplayer
madvr
svp pro 4

1080p60 cpu:15%  gpu:45%
2160p60 cpu:22%  gpu:77%

would like to use less gpu for svp.
gpu for madvr. cpu for svp.

have sellected "no acceleration" for gpu but no change.

svp works beautifully. I love it.

Re: How do I shift more workload to CPU (not GPU)?

SVP doesn't take much of your GPU, at least for 1080p because it's been used on middle segment GPUs many years ago and the limiting factor was CPU.
Actually your example of miserable difference between GPU acceleraion On/Off is a living proof. It is disabled if you chose to...
...But obviously you could double check if your GPU is being used for DXVA hardware decoding in Potplayer in which case choose Nvidia CUDA Decoder.
(F5>Decoders>... for specific video format and choose Nvidia CUDA)

Re: How do I shift more workload to CPU (not GPU)?

James thank you for your reply.

What I'm referring too is when svp is active cpu/gpu: 15/45
When svp disabled cpu/gpu: 4/19.
Looks like svp uses 26% gpu.

I would like to reduce gpu usage so I can allocate to madvr.
But selecting "no acceleration" for gpu has no effect.

Is there another setting to force svp to use more cpu and less gpu?

more like madVR

Re: How do I shift more workload to CPU (not GPU)?

Yes you're correct. svp is causing madvr to work harder. The higher gpu due to that. Not only svp.

But why does selecting "no acceleration for gpu" not reduce gpu usage?

Can I ask you how’s your PC efficiency when playing 4K with 59.940 fps, 10 bit output and without any of the HW decoding via mpv player?

SVP works just fine on Intel IGP so when it comes to 2080 we're talking about 1% usage

Re: How do I shift more workload to CPU (not GPU)?

Chainik now I understand.
The additional gpu usage is not from svp creating more frames.
It's from the processing of those additional frames.
Thank you for SVP. Great software.
