Topic: Video shows as black and white in video editor after transcoding

Hi,

I have an issue. My video is transcoded and is in colour when I play it back on VLC, but when I drop it into Vegas 18 to edit - it goes black and white. Very frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

It gets transcoded via SVP first into h264 (I have tried it as h264 AVC and H264 HEVC) - still works fine when I watch it back as a video via VLC, until I add it into the editor!

I have been on the vegas 18 forums and it is not the editor itself as the problem has been replicated on other machines. Someone said it is a transcoder issue. Also, any video that hasn't been transcoded works fine and shows colour.

Someone said the video just needs to be transcoded into MP4 AVC - how do I do that on SVP please?

switch to the 'advanced' tab, choose mp4 format

I tried this, but there is no "AVC" option in the drop down menu. Do I select it somewhere else?

"AVC" means "h.264"

Ah ok, well I have tried it with the option you recommended and 5 other presets and still - after transcoding (which it does a great job of) it goes into the video editor as black and white.

Before using the transcoder- it is fine and in colour. I don't really know what to do, so any further ideas would be appreciated greatly.
