Topic: Using AutoHDR for Video Playback.
Microsoft has a cool feature that uses a screen space shader to convert SDR games to HDR. The end result is surprisingly good. I'm wondering of there is a way to get this to work for video. It would be awesome for us who are watching on HDR displays.
From my understanding, AutoHDR is run purely has a shader and does not need any information other than screen space pixel brightness values. The algorithm is using machine learning. I don't see a technical reason why this wouldn't work.
An easy way I think we can get this to work is to fool windows into thinking that the video player is a game, but I have no idea how to do this.
Any suggestions or plans to getting AutoHDR to work for video?
